Link found between BPA and obesity, could this also trigger T2?

Here's an article describing a new study that describes how BPA a chemical that is present in the urine of about 90% of the adults in the US can cause changes in the body. Actually the chemical having the effect is bisphenol A diglycidyl ether (BADGE). BPA can get into our bodies when BADGE breaks down. The study found BADGE can induce stem cells to become fat cells, effect was noted at levels…See More

New Potential Target for T2 Treatment

Here's an article reporting that "The online edition of Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences reports that Cincinnati University (UC) researchers have discovered that apolipoprotein A-IV (apoA-IV), a naturally produced protein that has the ability to reduce blood sugar levels and enhance insulin secretion, could be a potential target for a new diabetes treatment."apoA-IV is produced by the small…See More

I'm a Systems Admin coming from an account background. Not much of a musician, but I can visualize things well. I can code most of the scripting type stuff and enjoy that because it's light. I can stand to code for too long. It starts to mess with my undiagnosed ADD. =^)

I actually did IT for a construction company for a while and understand what you mean about visualization. Funny though, I always thought the music thing was about creativity.

I think I'm slowly making my way over to the security side of things. I get a kick out of the whole 1980s spy stuff and I think that's beginning to move more into the cyber frontier. We shall see where things go.

Your doing great. I've got family in their 60s that still can't quite grasp that a scan of a document can be copied multiple times and we don't need multiple copies of the same paper. =^)

That sounds like some smooth talking you had to do (well done!). Still, there is a certain aptitude to all this tech. Or maybe it's just aptitude towards learning constantly. I'm sure the work will hold out and they'll be SOL without you. It makes for a perfect employee, when they don't have to understand what you do, but just get those nice results from all your coding.

My condolences for your loss.

I think though, being able to do VBA in access and write your SQL queries translates very well to anything you would want to build on. As for demand, there seem to be a good number of Access/VBA jobs out there, granted possibly not in your area.

Your too kind BadMoon! I think the same about your posts.

Funny, I wrote a inventory control DB with Access / SQL and VBA. Spent 6 months on it. I can honestly say, coding is not for me. I like scripting (Bash, vb.net / VBA, Autoit, PHP, etc.) and am planning to pick up Python once I'm done with my Red Hat certs.

The technical term for us is "JOAT" - jack of all trades. But, I would keep the "IT Manager" title. It looks much better on your resume! Is cut over land the same as clear cut? That's a fascinating (and nitche) area to be in. 18 record sets into VBA! That must have been fun.

Be well.
