1000+ likes! Thank you

The other day I was looking at my website stats and was both surprised and pleased. It would appear that I reach over 10,000 people each month. I know for many sites, they see that in the run of a day or even sooner than that but for me that is pretty amazing.I do not have an advertising budget. I don’t have a huge staff (I am the only staff and I don’t get paid). The website (for all of its faults and victories) is created by, managed by and filled by me. I do not have a computer background. I…See More

Diabetes is Hard work!

Yesterday I finished reading Gary Scheiner's new book "Until there is a Cure". I will be writing about it in more detail later this week but one thing struck me as I read--diabetes is hard work! As I have mentioned numerous times, I have been at this game for over 13 years now. I should kind of have an idea of just how hard this diabetes thing is to handle but seeing it in print made it worse.I was tired and overwhelmed by what I read. I worried about my son once again. There were complications…See More

Opening Tablets at 2am should be an Olympic sport!

According to Facebook, I was not alone in my early morning fight with diabetes. I noticed that many other parents spent more time awake last night than asleep thanks to the dia-beast!

Last night my son was the picture of health and fitness. I could hear the weights clambering as he lifted and pressed. I watched him haul his body up and down on his chin up bar and tried to convince myself that I could do that if I really wanted to. As I headed off to bed, he sat at our table chopping…

Another Diabetes Blessing

Posted on April 10, 2013 at 11:34am 0 Comments

Last night I rolled over in bed, put my arm near my face and went...YUCK!

My son had dropped insulin on my arm! I was laying in bed when I realized that we had forgotten to reset his basals back to "school days" after 10 days of Easter vacation....

I did not get , that this relates to diabetes only but more to other medical problems . I do feel , that those , who complete these forms and claim a percentage of the paid out credit are very ill informed.Shame on them !And shame on Doctors signing for " fake " claims .Your job with charging for work provided does not compare to the what the "refund companies " !!

Hi Barb ...Are you aware ??
I posted this info in the Canada Group as well

August 6, 2012
Information from Canada Revenue Agency
Information for Qualified Practitioners
Persons with disabilities The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) is advising physicians to contact it if they feel they

Disability tax credit applications rising by 10% annually
The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) is advising physicians to contact it if they feel they are being pressured to provide information to support patients' claims for the federal Disability Tax Credit (DTC) that "they may not have medical records to support."

The advice comes as private companies that "help people apply" for the DTC and then claim a major portion of resulting refunds use advertising campaigns to seek potential applicants. The Toronto Star reported last year that one "refund company" claimed 30% of refunds resulting from DTC applications it initiated.

I read your post about the passing of another teen and candles ...soooo sad .
I met a 9 year old boy , recently diagnosed ; he attended CDA camp and is already looking forward to his next year experience of 2 weeks .I get to meet his Mom today( in Sicamous ) ...and for me the thing NOT to say is about the teen's story . I did give his Grandma the TU website ..
Hubby and I plan to join Chris Jarvis , July 24 for a hike at Silver Star ...I did post this event and a camp he has for teens on TU
I seem to be slowing down somewhat ...yet, health generally is well .
I was looking back at your Dec. 29 note ...and re-visited the DTC posting ..I don't recall , if I ever sent you , what I mailed to Jamie , the CA person ...the link in the paper is not working anymore ?
All the best !!

Barb , are you aware, that in the Financial Post of Sat. Dec. 18, CA Jamie Golombek mentioned a link to your Diabetes Advocacy page ??Whoopy !!

I have entered his article in the DTC discussion .

Today I e-mailed him re his statement, that insulin pumpers may not qualify . You state clearly, it will take 14 hours plus weekly . One of my pumper buddies from Sicamous e-mailed him as well .

I wonder , who the BC kid is ...Dr. Dan told me some time ago, that all BC kids coming to Children's Hospital ( because of D .) are supplied the signed DTC  papers.

Happy and Healthy 2011 .

Is this nasty  East Coast weather playing havoc for you ???
