Manny, thank you so much for your video. It was filled with love and care. We need to be reminded to care for each other and to listen rather than condemn. I have learned so many things from this site but I have also backed away because of people'...

Barbara-

I agree with the comment on you left on my Blog. A lot of Doc's don't educate their patients and I think that's where WE should take a stand.

Thankyou Barbara:)
I'm really going thru some challenges right now. I will still be continuing on in our homeschooling journey. We start back to "school" on the first of July. I love doing simple history a couple of days before the 4th! I try to make history a big question of "what happened?" It makes it fun to spend the year going to find out so many things. I'm trying to take things one day at a time again.
Right now, I'm sooo not doing well with my bloodsugar numbers. Way too high in the morning. Today, I feel very "puffy" and sore.
I see you're from sunny California! I miss living there. I sure wish it were easier to travel! I'd take a vacation there!

Dear Saundra
Yes I on Metformin and Glipizide the max dose. I was diagnosed hypoglycemic when I was 9 years old. I had gestational diabetes when I was pregnant with my children. I went on oral meds a few years ago but now they don't seem to be working very well, endo started insulin. Trying figure out what to eat, how many carbs, food doesn't taste very good. I hate breakfast...I don't feel like eating except a bowl of fruit but I wake up to such highs. I use insulin at night before bedtime 22 units of NPH. Oral meds at breakfast and dinner. Thank you for your tips

Hi Barbara
I would be happy to help in any way I can. The first thing I would say is to take your time and log all your blood sugar readings and all of your intake., foods as well as fluids. times and also how you feel. If bloodpressure is a problem record that as well. The more information you keep, the more you are able to look back over and see how something affected you. It may take a little while of eating something pretty consistently to figure out how many units of insulin you need to cover without going too high or too low. If a readiing comes up too high then you may need a couple of extra units for that particular food. And the other way around is the same thing. If the reading comes in too low you may need to pull back a couple of units. Trial and error is always the best teacher.. All of us make mistakes. Usually they are quite fixable. And there will also be "things" that will trigger a low or a high that is not a food. Every day that you get through, just gives you that much more experience in learning how your body responds to different things.
Were you on oral meds for long before starting the insulin?
Do you use the long acting basal alone or the basal and the fast acting both?
I would love to hear from you again to let me know how you are doing.
