Wow, I take back my previous post. This is amazing. Please keep us informed on what happens.

This Page lists the items that you can take through security on the plane. Insulin pumps are one of the acceptable items. I doubt you'll have any problems at all getting on the plane.

I have the second generation PDM, it came with a clip just like the one you pictured, as well as a case (again, like the one you pictured.) The second-generation PDM fits just fine in it. Not sure if it's different than the first generation clip ...

I got my Pod starter kit in June, and it came with a belt clip. If yours didn't, I'd give Insulet a call and ask them what's up.

Unless you wear really tight-fighting pants I can't imagine it would bother you. At least, it doesn't bother me a bit when I wear it on the inner thigh (my legs are too lean/muscular to wear it on the outer side).

Stupid question. I'm getting the pod Friday and training on Monday. How do you where it on your thigh? Doesn't your pants rub against it? The locations sounds great.

The beeps & alarms from the pod are very soft, and I have no hearing problems at all. A couple weeks ago I was at a restaurant having dinner, and I had an occlusion and totally missed it. This wasn't a loud restaurant and there was no music blarin...

I wear it on my leg anywhere from 1 inch above the knee to the top of my thigh. I find I have less "jiggly skin" towards my knee and it gets bumped less when changing clothes so it often hurts less. The thigh is a decent sized area, might as well ...

The message software is confusing! Sometimes there's no reply button & that messes up the order of who's saying what to who:)

Hello! I think we're in the same boat, although I did have higher cholesterol. I was diagnosed in July with a fasting number of 321. I was perhaps 5lb overweight, but that's about it. I Insisted that my doctor send me for the GAD and C-Peptide test as I thought I could be type 1.5. Turns out that I just have really crappy genetics as a young, non-overweight type 2. Six months have passed and I'm doing considerably better. I have also losened up my diet somewhat. My fasting numbers are still the worst and get better as the day goes on. I exercise 6 days a week and that helps, but probably not as much as for someone with some weight to lose. My first doctor put me on glipizide and I freaked when I figured out how it worked. Now on Actos and Januvia + Metformin. Let me know if I can help you!

Hi Barbara, I haven't gotten a c-peptide of GAD tests done yet, but my doc told me regardless of whether I'm T1.5 or T2, for now, the treatment will be taking Metformin, diet and exercise. Which is a bummer, because I do not fit the typical T2 profile so I'm afraid that losing more weight, while good for my self-image, won't do much in terms of making me less insulin resistant. As for exercising, I have been exercising 1 hour a day for 5-6 days a week for the past two months. This too hasn't had much impact on my BG. I'm not even sure if Metformin is all that great either for me because like I wrote below, how can I go above 250 after eating a bowl of rice? Arggggg. This disease is so frustrating.

Barbara, your situation sounds similar to mine. I am diagnosed as T2, I'm 32 years old, my cholesterol & heart rate are all normal, I am not overweight and seriously, I wish I had pounds to lose so that there would be room for improvement. The only thing that points to me being diabetic is that my father has Type 2. Although I am taking Metformin right now, my BG can go up as high as 250 when I eat a bowl of rice. I just read someone's comments about how your BG should never go above 200, and it's very depressing. Sure, exercise helps, but for me, it's that no matter how much I exercise or lose weight, with one carby meal (say two slices of pizza or a piece of pie) and I'll go way over 250 and it'll take me five hours to come back down to "normal" range. I wish there is a cure for diabetes, I really do, I get sad when I think I can never eat fruits or a loaf of bread.
