Bathyscaph replied to acidrock23's discussion 'Is a medical provider with a 26% Profit Margin the problem in health care?'
"I think BadMoonT2 is on the right track here. Transparency and a free market system only work well where the consumer has a meaningful amount of power and has multiple providers of comparable quality to choose from. Many people don't have…"

Bathyscaph replied to Dolores's discussion 'Whats the most annoying comment you've ever gotten about diabetes?'
"I've had at least two people offer to cure me of diabetes through psychic healing. They both meant well so I don't really take offense but it is just so misguided. I never really take any of it personally since almost nobody understands…"

Andy replied to Bathyscaph's discussion 'Dexcom G4 and Surfing' in the group Dexcom Users

Dexcom G4 and Surfing

I just thought I'd throw out some information for anyone who might be interested in using the G4 while surfing or swimming in the ocean. For me, surfing is really the number one place I'd prefer not to have a low. Even when surfing with friends, you are still mostly alone when you are in the water; well except for the sharks. The G4 has, so far, been kind of a mixed bag when it comes to surfing but here is what I've found. Hopefully it is helpful to someone else.First, the receiver isn't…See More

hey,
so sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I grew up in Southern California. My home town break was Manhattan Beach. Spent many years in the water there. Really miss it. I'd go out and not touch the beach for 5 sometimes 6 hour stretches. I was never the thrasher kind of surfer, mostly looked for curls and tubes, but there is nothing quite like bein out on the water.

Ooooohhh....computer illustrator! I illustrate, but the old fashion way :)
Long long ago, not too far away in the land of "Before-Computers", I graduated from university with an arts degree. Graphic Design and Illustration were my majors. I lived in a large city, and was in the field for nearly a decade before we started a family. At that point we lived in a smaller centre, and when we had our daughter in '84, I began working part time. When our son arrived 2 years later....I decided to stay home and freelance. That's when computer graphics kicked in. Freelancing in graphic design became redundant...as I couldn't compete speed wise with a computer. Had I remained with the agency I was with...they would have continued to upgrade me. I continued to do freelance illustrations...but also persued education as a supplement. Now, illustration is a supplement and pass time, while teaching is at the forefront. I'm fine with the choice (now), as I find it less demanding and less stressful.
Delighted to be counted as a friend :)
