Diabetes Expo - Long Beach California at Long Beach Convention Center

May 15, 2010 from 10am to 4pm
Another ADA Diabetes Expo. These events are pretty lame, IMHO, BUT it might be a good reason/excuse for us SoCal TuDiabetes member to get together. The current notion is 1:00 pm at the Eli Lilly Booth. I'm thinking earlier, actually. Try to think of something distinctive to wear. I'm wearing my TuDiabetes T-shirt.TerrySee More

Welcome to Tudiabetes!

Please don't let the ignorance of some Type 1 folks change your views or get you down. There are bad apples in every group. Yes there are differences between T1 and T2 but people should not always have to be reminded and should be respected for reaching for support. Everybody with this disease is going to experience a dark hour and will need a shoulder to cry on....

So how is everything going??? :)

Hello Ben,
Yes, overwhelming!!! First, take a breath and go slow. On the top of main page and your page, check out forums, groups, blogs...also on the main page left side are tons of info. to check out. Videos too. Meeting many other type 2's will help and they can give great advice. You can post a blog and ask questions too...people will give suggestions, etc. Just keep in mind that it takes time with this disease and everyone is different with meds, foods, BS readings. But, we have understanding and compassion for each other, and that really helps to keep on going and learning from each other. Give yourself time. I wish you all the best and don't hesitate to ask others for help. Just try not to overwhelm yourself, and it isn't your fault you got diabetes, it just happens to the best of us!! LOL It will get easier with time and as you learn what works for you. Glad that you are here. Have a great weekend. Robyn

oh, and Ben, from time to time, the "Type 1 vs Type2" discussions threaten to flame, and when it does, I go back and watch this video from our founder Manny

http://www.tudiabetes.org/video/learning-from-each-other

it's a little old, and we didn't follow through on some of the suggestions at the very end, but it is totally worth watching the 8 minutes.

I saw your post on Marie's page and just wanted to extend a welcome and to let you know that you are not alone in your feelings about the big "D" I have been there and understand what you are going through. I still don't get it all the time :) If I can help in any way please just let me know. Stay strong and take it a little at a time.
