Has anyone gotten it covered under BCBS of Alabama? We have the option through my Husbands work to stay with BCBS of A or switch to Aetna. I'm not sure which one would be the better option.

A little about me

I had the privilege of being diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at the glorious age of 14. Awkward Jr.High-going-into-high school girl. I started out on NPH and Humalog, shortly after my doctor suggested going on Lantus and 4 shots a day, and did that for several years.

Through those several years I was in and out of the hospital for more times than should be allowed a young girl. Eating disordered and sick. Through the insanity I met my darling Husband, he was SO key in getting me through it all, he encouraged me to get on my insulin pump and to strive for over all healthiness. Now, we've been happily married for nearly a year, 1 year on June 29th. :D

This used to talk about how I was striving to be healthy and take care of myself as my Husband and I would like to have kids one day - Well, that has obviously changed!!

Shortly after I joined this site my husband and I found out we were expecting last April, and as of December 17th, 2008 we have the most beautiful little girl! My pregnancy was completely uneventful except for the normal pregnancy ails of discomfort and heartburn. :) She was born after a quick 9 hours of labor and was 9 pounds even. We all wonder where she keeps the 9 pounds because she looks so tiny and fits very well in normal newborn clothes. Lol! :D

Now, we're adjusting to life with a newborn and I'm trying to figure out how to balance the blood sugars yet again! :D

I was RIGHT!

Blogged:

So, I have had an AWFUL time with the insurance company lately.

In SEPTEMBER I tried to order my prescriptions for the first time since switching insurances. When I was checking my prescription account at Caremark I realized that they were trying to ship all the prescriptions to me at once (which is a HUGE bill!). They didn't call me to ask what ones I wanted filled or to even let me know they were be… Continue

Hypocritical

I posted this to my blogspot blog earlier today:

Sometimes I feel like a hypocrite.

Like right now. I talk quite often about being healthy, eating healthy, being a "good" diabetic, good blood sugars, exercising properly.........

Fact is, though, I am SO not the epitome of health.

A couple months after Rylee was born I stopped really trying to take care of myself. Things were just getting more and more busy, Rylee was a very sweet an… Continue

Fort Hood

Can we all just take a moment and pray for the soldiers and their families in Fort Hood, Texas!?
I'm having a hard time grasping the reality that our own Soldiers would open fire on their Own. I almost expect if from non military, those lobbying against the military - as an act of open defiance. HOWEVER,… Continue

Hi Bethany, Hope all is well in Washington. I have traveled many times to the Northwest and I believe it is truly one of the most beautiful area's in the country.

I too was dx'd in Junior high (at 12) 7th grade and know exactly what you went through.

Congrats on your baby girl!

Cheers!
