Hi: Welcome to TuDiabetes. I received your e-mail below and will reply here.

I've been on Victoza for 3 months. Within 1 day, I had the following gastro issues: lots of stomach gas; lots of burping; and some heartburn. Also, there was a sense of fatigue. By the end of week 1 (on the .6mg dose), these had dissipated. I had a similar experience during week 2 (on the 1.2mg dose). During week 3 (on the 1.8mg dose), these negative reactions were all MUCH more severe, and after consulting it's my endocrinologist, I went back to the 1.2mg dose; these issues have not cropped up since then.

But there were two other problems (one of which I posted about). First, my 'stool schedule' shifted (from being 'regular' once a day to, roughly, every other day) - not such a bi deal - and I had constipation - without getting too graphic, it was quite hard to get things out. This problem has been with successfully way taking a stool softener (Dulcolax). Second, probably because I was favoring one particular spot on my left-lower abdomen, I developed a lump right below the skin - if you Google something like 'lumps injection site', you'll see references on this kind of stuff. I just noticed this and will start using other injection sites. I was unaware that this might be a problem when I started.

My blood sugar control was fine when I started on Victoza (last A1c was something like 5.6), but I was concerned about weight gain. I'm 5'6" and weighed in at 182 on my doctor's scale in late August. I've lost very close to 30 pounds since then.

"A message from Beth_sherry55 to all members of VICTOZA on TuDiabetes - a community of people touched by diabetes!

Hi, my name is Beth and I'm new here. I just finished my first pen of Victoza. The first week was kind of hellish with the worst acid reflux I have ever experienced. Now I am still dealing with other occasional gastro problems (let's just phrase it as I can not be too far away from a restroom.)It has helped my numbers however and I have lost 5 pounds so far. Hope these side effects start to go by the way side."
