I just started up a new G4. Seemed easy going from 7+ so far, but I haven't even entered 1st calibration values yet. Has anyone experienced any problems yet with this new cgm? Software took much…Continue

Dexcom transmitter too expensive!

Started this discussion. Last reply by Bob Jul 2, 2011. 2 Replies

Just checked the price on a new transmitter for Dexcom and it is $650.00! So I was wondering, has anyone ever tried to charge the transmitter battery on one of those charging pads? If so, does it…Continue

"Yeah. . .i exercise and uses to at least shower daily. . . I really liked the 7. I am adapting to the G4. As I said, I have had a bath the last two evenings without problem. It might be nice to shower after I go to the gym or ride my bike, but. . .…"

"OMG! That's horrible! I never add any kind of tape until 7, 8, 9 days and I exercise and shower every single day. Why is that happening is a good question. I cannot even think of a reason. Is your water hard or maybe extra soft?"

"I have had terrible luck with any type of water bases or sweaty activity with the G 4. I sponge bathe until I can't stand it anymore. Does that help?"

"Ok, so Dexcom weirdness. Changed my site this morning. Got a sensor failure a bit ago. Called Dexcom. They tell me to change my site AGAIN. I declined ( my sites are shot). Am now waiting to see if anything is working. Anyone else wondering about…"

"Never thought about it. I will try it next time. Usually I get the full 14 days, and since I rarely got to 17 or 18 days, I change it after 14. But Last week, days 11 and after were a lot of ???. So, the next time it happens, I will do it. Change…"

"What's with you perfectly-consistently-skinned folks?? I'm Mr. Lumpy. Even when I do calibrate I never know whether the site I've chosen is going to be a winner until a couple days in."

Biomuse replied to Bob's discussion 'Changing sensor sites without restarting G4' in the group Dexcom Users
"I think you've lucked out by inserting the new sensor at a site that happened to correspond closely to conditions at the old insertion site. I can't imagine that this is going to reliably be the case over multiple repeats of this. Not…"

"If it's not at the end of a 7-day cycle, there's no need to stop/restart; it won't know you've changed the sensor."

type3mom replied to Bob's discussion 'Changing sensor sites without restarting G4' in the group Dexcom Users
"Thanks, jrt :) Yes, we do that all the time. The OP is talking about changing the sensor without restarting the transmitter. That's what I don't understand."

jrtpup replied to Bob's discussion 'Changing sensor sites without restarting G4' in the group Dexcom Users
"mom, we're talking about using the same sensor past 7 days. If you stop sensor/start sensor when it 'runs out', it'll keep going. So, say, at day 10 there are still 4 days left in the second week. Fooling the transmitter. Does…"

type3mom replied to Bob's discussion 'Changing sensor sites without restarting G4' in the group Dexcom Users
"I don't understand something here. The Dex times out and stops the sensor after 7 days, so how can you continue to use the transmitter without a restart?"

Bob replied to Bob's discussion 'Changing sensor sites without restarting G4' in the group Dexcom Users
"12 hours after non-restart, dex is reading 95 and onetouch is 97."

"No I gotcha. Keep us posted on how it works. I'm just amazed the raw data being processed by the transmitter/receiver didn't change significantly enough to noticeably decrease accuracy. There are a lot of users who don't calibrate for…"
