Living with Type 2 over age of 50

Hello all. The name is Robert and I've been off and on tudiabetes over the past 3 years. I got on when I lost my insurance (with a high paying job) and when I began taking a very potent diabetes drug named GLYBURIDE. I couldn't afford a visit back to my doctor at the time and I was passing out because of my sudden change from running 200+ glucose down to 70 and below in a matter of days.Thank God, I was able to find this site and I was able to find some very helpful information that helped me…See More

Two weeks later....

It is August 15. More that two weeks since my last blog posting. The move to the new place went very well. The place is very relaxing. I like it. My room mate likes it. My turtle likes it.I still have a situation with the insurance. I have decided to save the money I would have had deducted from my check for insurance premiums and deposit it into a special account solely for the purpose of paying for doctor visits. Since my doctor will schedule a visit once every 3 or 4 months, the $300 or $400…See More

"Mike, I'm type 2, but I had experiences like the one you describe (without the medics) when I started taking Glyburide. When I first started taking Glyburide, my glucose level dropped from an average of 200 down to 80 instantly. One day, I…"

Bob Reveles replied to Kelly's discussion 'How did you find out you had Type 2?'
"Like many others, I had the symptoms. From what little I read, I knew I probably had Diabetes 2, but I didn't go to the doctor to confirm that for a long time out of denial. I didn't want to know I was diabetic like my late father.…"

New Journey....

I finished most of the things I needed to finalize my move. I'm moving to a more affordable place.I learned last week that the insurance of the company I work for has a "pre-existing condition" clause on their policy. That means that they will not cover the cost of treating my diabetes for one year after I join. It is very discouraging. If I wasn't in a big financial bind, I'd pay for the insurance and wait for the year to be up. But I am not sure that I will stay with this company. With that…See More
