Good luck on the walk, ours in Richmond is the 26th. I just found out last week and have scrambled to get the team together and try our best to raise a little money.

I have a 09 Heritage Classic with a custom paint job. Used to have a 03 Suzuki LC1500 and traded it in when I saw this one. My wife and I need to ride down your way sometime to meet up and to see the fall colors. Do you guys do any rides with the HOG group in your area in the fall?

So Brenda, what type of bike is that? Sorry I missed the Poker Run but I joined a couple of days after it began.

waaay cute she's adorable! statisically she has a 1 in 5 chance let's hope for the best!

Brenda go to http://www.insulin-pumpers.org/ and they have all the manufacturers web sites and great information there. I have a minimed pump they are the biggest company, but people have (and love) "cozmore", "PODS", and "animas" pumps. truth be told mostly all pumpers like pumping better than shots, and once they get started they're just mad they didn't start sooner!

anything you want to know or any questions please feel free! I can talk and tell stories for hours =) and dont' worry about the abbreviations and pumpspeak - it's real easy and no body will complain if you ask them!

the pump - you could start next week! I have good insurance, and all I needed was a letter of medical necessity from my endo, which I got as soon as I asked. You could start on the pump right now if you wanted to, or you could do it like me. =) Regarding control, no, it's a learning curve whether you are doing shots or pumping, my control got worse on the pump (for 3 months) before it got better - all because of the learning factor. You have time to think about what you want to do, and you know the deal because of your daughter! (is that her in the pic?... soooo cute) don't get overwhelmed it must still be a big change for you.

Welcome to TuDiabetes Brenda! Hope this community can be a great help to you and your daughter! Is she signed up yet?
I was also diagnosed as type 1.5 at age 21, then my endo told me that I'm just type 1 (and that type 1.5) doesn't exist. It was so good to find other LADAs on this website. Glad that you are here too!
