"Magic" exercise & blood sugar equation? my BG goes way up with exercise...

Started this discussion. Last reply by jbowler Jul 27, 2011. 20 Replies

My doctor told me today that there is a somewhat complicated equation about exercise and BG levels. She will go through it with me when I see her next month. I've been diabetic for 23 years and have…Continue

Stress

Hi Everyone,I have been on the pump now since October and I love it. It's so easy and reliable and after having been on the Omnipod for 4 years I can't even believe I suffered for four years on that thing when I could have been on this. My concerns about the tubing were totally unjustified. sure the dog chewed through it twice but I have never ripped it out compared to 2+ times a week on the pod.My problem is that I am just not getting the numbers I need to get. I am pretty sure it isn't the…See More

How's the new pump working for you?

Just wanted to let you know that I am loving my pump so far. I just started using it on Thursday and couldn't be happier. I began to feel physically better later that evening. One of my Pugs in particular, is very spazzy at times. I have had no issues with the tubing and either of my Pugs. I will be going back on the 18th to get started with my CGM. If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

You're very welcome! I'm just doing my best to share experiences... I had to figure this all out the hard way. Be sure to let us know how the new pump works! When do you start it?

Your Pugs are adorable! I love that you call them monkey loaf! I actually have two Pugs now. We took in a 10 year old guy whose owner could no longer keep them. Having multiple Pugs is great. =)
I too am starting on the 523 Revel and CGM. Mine just arrived today, but I'm not meeting with my diabetic educator about it until Thursday. I must admit, the two boxes full of stuff is a little overwhelming. I'll let you know how it goes for me and hope you will do the same. Take care!

Until I get this problem with "private" messaging sorted out...I'll have to communicate with you by posting on your page. I didn't start a discussion but....I might very well be switching to the Ping. I have a relative who might be interested in an insulin pump. She thinks that the OmniPod is just too enormous.

I had a representative visit for an in depth explanation and demonstration of the Ping. By the way the fact that they offer a pink pump might have more sway with her than anything positive that I have to say regarding the OmniPod. She's seen evidence of the vast improvement in my numbers since I starting pumping my insulin. Her numbers have been all over the place; and she seems to now out of that honeymoon phase. She's just 16 and we've discussed the importance of having numbers as well controlled as possible sooooooooooo, I'm willing to give up the Pod in order to be supportive to her. She thinks that it'll be "cool" if we had the same pump. I don't think I'll go as far as a pink one though.
