iPhone Apps for Healthy Eating

Khurt, Why do you use Diabetes Log. What does it give you that Glucose Buddy or WaveSense doesn't? I'm just curious because I use GB and WS also, but I haven't used Diabetes Log. -- Buffy

iPhone Apps for Healthy Eating

I use Glucose Buddy - Diabetes Helper (free) to track BG, meals and activity. (Also tracks medication, but because mine is always the same, I don't use that feature). I like it, but the graphs and ...

1. Celebrate the small things. For example, getting up before 10am, or letting the dessert pass you by, or getting out for a walk. (Note: for some people these might be big things. If so, find your own small things) 2. Do something for someone el...

Rose, I really feel for you. I wish I was there with you so I could just give you a hug. I have had depression for 10+ years, and type 2 D for 3 years. Did the depression contribute to the diabetes - probably. Does the diabetes contribute to the...

Well,Chaos' name was a compromise. I wanted to name him "Kelev" (Hebrew for dog), my husband & one son wanted to name him "bluetooth" (after the communication method!). Chaos, at ~1yr old, was pretty chaotic. So we compromised at "Chaos". Actuall...

I was in a wonderful group in SF called The Dorcas Quilters. They meet every Wed at St. John's in the Richmond. Many of the ladies in the picture were there when I lived there. The quilt with the white dove was made for our 60th anniv when I was president. Many strong bonds exist in the fellowship of this group.

What a beautiful family you have, too. I quilt for fun, too. Lately, I've been in a bit of a slump. Oh well, I'll get back. I'm excited and scared that I'm going to be president of a rather large guild next year. I love going to my guild. I also have many UFOs, and my thoughts about them are, "I had a lot of play dates". not every one has to be finished, either.

Hi Buffy! Just was thinking of you & thought I'd stop by your page & say "Hi!". I gotta tell ya' ... I am very proud to see the groups you're checking out on TuDiabetes! It is great to see you taking such an active stance in "The Battle of the Big D". I think i'm going to check out a few of these groups as well, I've not seen several of them and think they sound "right up my alley". Anyway, hope your week is going stupendously, and that your spirits are high!
Take care,
L.

Not to worry, Buffy. I'm glad to hear you're feeling better, and that you haven't given up 'cause The Big D won't.

I love peanut butter, and celery has LOADS of fiber ... great combination, and portable too! I don't know about you, but with my work schedule, a family, pets and working out, too ... I'm always on the lookout for something I can eat on the run!

This week has nothing but possibility ... and we're gonna' make 'em all good ones! I've taken the liberty of sending you a "friend request", I hope you won't mind; and I'm here for you anytime you want a buddy to chat with. I'd love to stay in touch and hear how well you're doing from time to time, if you're okay with that. Thanks for chatting with me.

Take care,
L.

It IS easy to become discouraged, but it isn't helpful and it isn't true. We can do this, you & I and all the others; even if we do take babysteps ... or even occasionally lose our footing. The good thing about The Big D, Buffy, is that every day we get another chance to do it a little better than did it the day before!

My current fav is whole-grain wraps. At about 80 cals/ea and with 7+ grams of fiber, I use them for sandwiches. For lunch a slice or two of turkey and loads of lettuce & tomato to fill you up .... and for breakfast: low-fat cream cheese or peanut butter spread on the same wrap with fresh fruit and a sprinkle of cinnamon and/or pecans! Yum! What's your current best diabetes fighter trick?

Hi Buffy! I'm also brand new to TuDiabetes, and I saw your comment and my heart goes out to you. My weight also sometimes fluctuates pretty wildly and seemingly without cause. What I can assure you is that, overall and over time, if you continue to make better food choices and to exercise ... your weight WILL decrease! I've managed to chase away 50# since February and have watched the scale in amazement on many occasions! There are so many variable factors affecting weight (especially for a woman), that any reading on any day cannot hold a candle to the accuracy of a series of "like readings" (same time of day, similar clothing, similar circumstances as far as exercise & fluid and food intake, etc).
Hang in there, Buffy. Doing the right thing is never a wrong choice!
