So I've been approved to go forward with getting a tattoo apprenticeship as I've been working with Vocational Rehabilitation as I have other issues from my diabetes. Some of you already know that I've been T1 since October 2000. In July 2008, I was diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy. Just recently in February I was diagnosed with the starting of retinopathy. Luckily it has gotten better at my last checkup. The bleed that they were worried about has went away but the vascular part of my…

A friend of mine on Facebook is a self-trainer for Diabetic Alert Dogs. She does breed the dogs as well and by 7 weeks old the have the RAW ability which means they can pick up on the scent. She only charges $1500 to $2000 for the dogs and $50 to help train these dogs. Most places who train these alert dogs charge around $20,000 for them. I personally do not have that kind of cash just laying around plus these places are usually miles and miles away from where I live and I can also not…

So back in October 2011, I did two trials on two different pumps. The first was a week and a half trial with the MiniMed Revel with CGM and the second was a week with an OmniPod insulin. Both gave me great control, but the CGM had a huge difference between my real blood sugar and what it was showing and issues with my baby son (who's now almost 6 months) and the tubing. I really haven't found many issues with the OmniPod because if I have an error on my pod I just call the company and they…

Jacob's mom said… i am breathing a huge sigh of relief, soaking diapers are normal for that age i remember putting two diapers on at that age for bedtime! i dont blame you for wondering what if, but it sounds like with a bs of 70 you are in the clear for now! jacob was really only symptomatic for a week or two before diag, no weight loss, but something was clearly not right with his thirst and hunger...he did also have some "lows" after eating sugary cereals a few months (?) prior but pretty random i only put it together after. lets keep hoping your little cutey is sugar free! good luck with his teething enjoy every moment they grow too fast, my blue eyed blondy boy is now 14! but still the love of my life, oh yeah there is also my mason who is 12 and very special, there is just something super special about your first and we have a strong bond. i hope all is other wise well in your world! amy
Jacob's mom said… to be honest cherise that sounds a bit worrisome, or it could be absolutely nothing. being a type 1 yourself i would test his bs asap. jacob was diag. at 10 and was excessively thirsty and urinating alot, my mom had a meter from my dad as he was diabetic he read high i retested with another meter of course i didnt completely trust just one reading! the next read high as well so we were off to the ER and our story began. if you are suspicious i would test asap, as once signs are showing things can escalate quickly and finding out sooner is better. i will pray that this is all nothing and he is just teething! please let me know how it goes. best wishes amy
