upcoming endo appt!

we finally got an appointment with an endocrinologist in sarasota. i'm going thursday after school for my first appointment. after that, i no longer have to go to the office to check blood sugars and take insulin on campus at school. also, i can start talking to him about getting a pump. i'm so excited!
hip hop is going great, she has us on a 200 sit up, 24 push up, and 3 unique workout, workout. it's a lot of fun when we work on our routine though. and my blood sugars have cooperated :P

independent.

the nurse at school has informed me that i have to get papers signed by a new doctor before i am allowed to check and inject without going to her office. i can't get an appointment yet, so i'm stuck wasting time going to her office every time i need to check at school. i've been doing it on my own since i was 6!
anyway, i started hip hop classes friday and working out and dancing is helping my blood sugars tremendously. plus i think i'll lose some weight. maybe this will lead to getting a pump..… Continue

First day of school/ Tropical Storm Fay

Today was my first day of school! Everything went okay, I didn't get lost at all lol. There are quite a few diabetics and the testing and shots went well for the first day. usually the nurse is going crazy all day trying to get everyone's meds and whatnot but they were very calm about it.
They cancelled school for tomorrow and possibly Wednesday because of the tropical storm heading right for us.
the storm is supposed to hit around 3am tomorrow.
more later, i just wanted to update since i'm not… Continue

Oh, what a diabetic day :]

First of all, THANK YOU to everyone who commented on my parents and pumps discussion! My dad promised to look into it and talk to my endocrinologist at my next 3 month appointment. That is huge, he's never even considered it! I'll keep my page updated on the road to the pump.
Meanwhile, we're working on a seafood cookout tonight for my family and the family across the street. Between the two families, we can come up with some amazing food. Yum! plus, grilled and… Continue

How Many?

Last night was a bad one. It started when I took my shot before dinner and my stomach is worn out so it didn't take the insulin. Dad ended up giving me the dinner shot. I kept checking and it kept going up, 274, then 312, then up to 476. I got so frustrated, and spent a good hour in my dad's room crying like I was 5. He kept asking what was wrong, and it wasn't that I felt bad. It was that I'm incredibly sick and tired of every little aspect of diabetes. The shots, the predicting, guessing, shot… Continue

2008 was indeed a great year for us. We smile as we look back at happy moments, victories and success no matter how small. We relish life and all its struggles. Let's forget the unpleasant times and thank the lord for giving us new mornings and better tomorrows. HAPPY NEW YEAR! Be Well.

Hello Caitlin, I hope you have a healthy 2009 filled with PEACE and LOVE anda chane to spread the word of celebrating JULY 30 as INSULIN APPRECIATION DAY. I am reaching out to insulin-dependent diabetics, worldwide, to join with me, have a moment of silence, and give THANKS, for INSULIN giving us a healthy lifestyle, on this day, annually. Do what you can to show newly-diagnosed, the POSITIVE side of diabetes.. Use your imagination to make this day EXTRA special. An idea to network is use the AMIGO,K.I.T. form of networking, call up 10 of your diabetic friends,DAILY and 9 (keep in touch) and ask them to call 10 of their friends, etc. At 91 years, learning to use a computer has opened up a whole new world especially in spreading diabetes awareness and learning what the world has to offer. Keep in touch ans spread the word about JULY 30 INSULIN APPRECIATION DAY. clarence@sympatico.ca
