Ok, this touches on the slightly unpleasant part of the diabeetus, but I seem to be spilling a lot of sugar into my urine. How do I know? Because my entire bathroom smells like candy every time I…Continue

"I agree with Jen. I think if you just trust your meter and urine stips and get better you will be fine. And if you clean the bathroom, that will likely fix that smell."

Spock replied to Captain's discussion 'Sugar in urine?'
"I agree with Jen, but would also suggest an immediate test for Ketones. The sticks are available OTC. Your urine will smell very unusual if ketones are high and have been for some time. The smell is often called "fruity." Also, 150 is not…"

An Update!

Posted on November 5, 2013 at 10:00pm 0 Comments

I don't want to speak too soon, but since my appointment with my doctor, things have been going well, and not well at the same time. I fancy myself an optimistic person, so good news first: I seem to be adjusting to the Florinef pretty well. The awful side effects I was having seem to have tapered off. I still haven't found my happy place with my dosage, but I'll get there. .5 seems to do the trick, but then some days I still wake up so dizzy it's as if I never took the medication at all.…

That went well!

I'm back from my Endo visit, and things went shockingly well! Before going on an alternative to the florinef, she put me on an alternative dose, where I take .5 for two days, then .1. We'll see how that works. The down side of this is that she also said that this could be something that I have to suffer with for the rest of my life. I'm going to choose to stay focused on the positive here for the time being and not think about that. In other good news, my A1C is down a bit, and we talked…

I'm about to go see my Endo in about 20 minutes. I'm nervous, anxious, and a little queasy. Last night I typed up a list of everything I need to talk about with her about her. I think I need to calm the heck down so I don't go in, guns all ablaze, like "I HAVE A BONE TO PICK WITH YOU." I also have the supreme beginnings of a migraine today, so that's just grand. I felt it coming on yesterday but thought I had it nipped in the bud. Thank god I've been making a list of what I need to discuss…

Some more venting...

Posted on October 17, 2013 at 1:26pm 0 Comments

Well, my doctor apt is tomorrow, and I'll be asking for the Florinef alternative. Keeping my fingers crossed. Last night I had a migraine and went to bed early, thus forgetting both my migraine meds and my Florinef. When I got up today I definitely felt the repercussions of being late for it just those oh....6 hours? I woke up with not only a splitting headache but awfully dizzy.

I also found out last night that this drug makes you angry. I don't know if I'm even on enough of it to…

Hey there! Glad to see I'm not the only one who struggled with chocolate bunnies. I was so excited the day after easter when I bought one on clearance for 99 cents.. only to discover that the whole thing had about 200g of carbs in it. I'm still working on finishing it. :( Have a great weekend!
