It can be confusing. Splenda is the brand name for sucralose. Sucralose is 600 times sweeter than sugar. Virtually all the Splenda products have been filled (with forms of sugar***) to have the same sweetness per volume as regular sugar. Thus you ...

Is it one cup of sugar = to 1/2 cup Splenda? Or is it equal parts? One cup of sugar is equal to one cup of Splenda? I am confused. Help!

Okay, I held out until the very end. But, then I went a little crazy. I few (mini) chocolate bars here and there over the first week in November. Halloween night was ok. Two years ago I would have been eating the candy for dinner! But, I can say t...

I've done this too. I tested more than once and ended up with two very different readings. The first one was 8.3 and I did the same finger again right after and it was 6.3. Since, it was first thing the morning I used the lower BG to put in my book.

I know as for myself what happened to me with this a few times.........I didn't clean off my fingers with the swab right and had too much sugar, starch, whatever on one and got these different readings it also works with different bs machines too!!!

Bless you, Holger---that's what my husband, the old theater techie/gadget geek says. I still growl about it, having very little patience for gadgets of any kind, myself. When I am more rational, though it provides a modicum of comfort....be well.....

November Highs

This is a new month with new beginnings. I am pretty excited about doing my 15 minutes of activity on World Diabetes Day. I am pretty sure my friends are just going to think I have lost it. Ha. It will be fun.

My Ultra One Touch died on me. =( I found out the hard way that is doesn’t like the cold. As a replacement I have a cute little One Touch Ultra Mini. My only problem is that I have to carry around another bottle to keep my sharps in & my lancet thing seems to have a mind of it’s own.… Continue

Another Doctor Appointment

Well, I had another doctor appointment today. She didn't seem that happy with me after I told her about my little high number night . She said the next time my blood sugar goes up like that I need to come to the hospital! My answer was that they might have thought I was just another party girl that couldn't hold her drink. She knows me so well.. I am not that type person at all! ( I have always been the D.D. Expect on my Birthday of course!) She said that we will get some Gravol and liquids into… Continue

Scary Night

Ok, so I know that eating right and working out is very important. I have started to workout again and eating well. Things are looking up. BUT last night was not so good. I was having a "Free" day and had a fairly healthy breakfast and lunch until dinner. I ended up having lots of chocolate, pizza, chips and some very rich cake. I was having a good time with my friends until two hours into our evening I started to get a very bad headache. I just ignored it and tried to have a good time. By the e… Continue

Doctor Visit

Well, I got my AC 1 results today. Not too bad but, not to good. It was around 6.9. I've been told that I need to go on meds. I don't want to and I am NOT going too. I was told if I wanted to have kids at some point that I should start to get things under control. I've been having high morning numbers and it is getting a bit on the fustrating side. I think weight loss will be my best bet. Not, too happy at the moment.

Sorry.
