I really like this idea, I don't think I've seen another person with type 1 since bearskin back in the 80's... I don't know my schedule day to day so I hope to see you all there

Hey T1s!!!
Whether you were diagnosed back in the day when it was "Juvenile Diabetes;" you are a newly diagnosed college freshman; or you were diagnosed well into your second career, the reality is that 85% of those living with type 1 diabetes are over 18!
Without diabetes camps, it's hard to meet other adults living with T1D with whom you can share information, ask questions, and get support.
That's why Beer & Basals is for You!
Beer & Basals is a casual gathering for adults with T1D who want to get to know others living with T1D and expand their circle of support. Beer & Basals will be hosted by Carb DM volunteers Breanne Harris and Katie Craft.
Our first meeting is coming up on Monday, February 27, 7 - 9 pm. Join us at Crepevine in Palo Alto (367 University Ave)! Hope to see you there!

Hi Carolyn,

I am also a member of this group and am a Type 1 Diabetic. I understand that you are the Outreach Manager for the JDRF's Bay Area office and thought you might be interested in learning about a new support and activities group I've started for Type 1 Diabetics in the SF Bay Area.

The group is called G.A.T.E.-Gastroparesis And Type1 Diabetes Exchange. It is for Type 1s as well as for those with Gastroparesis. You can have either condition separately and don't need to have both to join. It is a support and activities group for people with similar conditions to interact, network, participate in discussions, ask questions, share experiences, or to vent frustrations. I will also have guest speakers periodically.

This is a new group that will meet in Union City one Sunday a month starting May 17. If you would like to learn more, please check us out

G.A.T.E. website:

Please keep us in mind for any Type 1 Diabetics seeking a support group in the area.
