A little about me

I'm 39, originally from Toronto, Canada and now live in a small city in the middle of Texas, I packed up & moved here in 2006 to marry my guy. We have 1 four legged fur baby.

I was diagnosed as a type 2 on October 23, 2007 and re-diagnosed as a type 1 on October 8, 2008, it took changing doctors 3 times to finally get one that would listen to me and actually read my test results.
At diagnosis I was 118lbs and 5'8", my A1C was 12.1% and my random glucose reading was 550.

I'm currently taking Novolog and Lantus via pen, I'm thinking about a pump but I'm not sure yet.
I had a bad case of burnout struggling with trying to treat myself as a type 2 using oral meds, restricting my diet and exercising like a fiend which got me nowhere since I really needed insulin, now that I'm finally using insulin it has turned my life around and I finally feel like my hard work is paying off.

I'm still a little overwhelmed with everything but it gets a little easier everyday. Unfortunately we're 3 hours from anywhere with any sort of in person support but my husband and his family have been fantastic. Between the blogs I've discovered, books I've read and forums like this I'm slowly finding my way.

Carrie:

It's gonna be a long wait!! Especially if you're looking forward to something.

This past Tuesday, I was told that I would very likely be approved for a new power chair because of the inability to use my hands without a great deal of pain. The company rep said that it probably would take a week. YEAH! Although I don't quite believe the DR will have the report typed up so soon, I can always hope.
