Celeste replied to MLH's discussion 'Keeping Omnipod adhered to skin' in the group OmniPod Users
"We do this too - it is the only tape that allows my daughter to get the three days out of the pods - I find in the winter when I can get lazy about it(less water and sweating) that she will get more kinks if we don't tape it too (I guess the…"

Celeste replied to sweetmom's discussion 'how often do you change your basal rates/ I:C ratios on your child?' in the group parents of kids with Type 1
"My daughter is 6 also - she has had diabetes since 2 years old. I probably make slight adjustments every 2-3 weeks - but we have major overhauls every few months (where it seems like we are changing all the basal rates first up up up then down down…"

Celeste replied to O's Mom's discussion 'Looking for Disney advice.' in the group parents of kids with Type 1
"Went to WDW in Feb - first time since Maddy was diagnosed - had a blast! We were able to get one of those passes - made our life a lot easier (though you can't skip all the lines) but I was told you can't always get them - we had a note…"

Celeste replied to Hockey Mom's discussion 'Sick Day Procedures' in the group parents of kids with Type 1
"I have a 5 year old and unfortunately we have had many sick days - the most important thing is to watch his ketones. Our daughter gets ketones pretty quickly so we use a blood meter to check for ketones - it has been a lifesaver. We will usually…"

Celeste replied to Barry's discussion 'Ideas to Ensure 12 year old remembers ro put in Carb count in pump when he snacks' in the group parents of kids with Type 1
"UGH! My child is only 5 and I expect she will be the same way. Does the pump have a timer setting - I know the meter we have has an alarm to test - maybe if he has to turn off the alarm every couple of hours (though at 12 I imagine he is almost…"

Celeste replied to Beth's discussion 'PDM Failure' in the group OmniPod Users
"We had the PDM fail like that once (on a Friday night)- had to reset and change the pod - that was about a year ago - PDM was working fine after that (though that did get me to order a backup - my 5 yr old - then 4 is very resistant to shots - the…"

Hi! Dinner is pretty easy at my house. My son will eat anything! We alway have a meat, starch, veg, and fruit. Usually whole foods, not too processed. We like chicken or turkey (in the crock pot), occasionally a ham steak, or steak on the grill, chicken breast... For our carb we usually go with baked potatoe, brown rice, or 100% whole wheat pasta. And then a fruit (usually no sugar added all natural applesauce) and a veg.

Dylan is 4 and on the Ping. He was diagnosed 08/25/09. His last a1c was 6.8 with our share of lows. (none serious, though)
