Latest Activity

Hey, I am 24 as well. Mine started during the first time I was in an inpatient eating disorder recovery program and I was doing the "re-feeding" process and the clinical staff was really monitoring and bringing down my glucose levels. I suppose it...

That's exactly what happened with mine. My body rejected it. If anyone knows a way that would make it so my skin wouldn't reject it. I don't know if its the type of metal or what it is. Anyone have any ideas?

Out of all my piercings the belly button piercing was one that I had the most trouble with. I do not have it done right now but I have scar tissue from previous belly button piercing. I tried it on the top and on the bottom. Now my other piercings...

Update on other Ning Group for Tudiabetes and Diabtes Hands Foundation

I have started a group on the other site. Its at Mystic Moons. She was really thrilled to hear about this because she has someone in her family that has diabetes and its not in control. I called the group Diabetes Awareness because we need to raise awareness about diabetes.

Here's the link to the group: http://mysticmoons.ning.com/group/diabetesawareness. I'll include their badge as well.

Please feel free to join.

PS. I go by Khaos Faerie on that group.

Helping Tudiabetes and the Diabetes Hands Foundation through another Ning group

I belong to another NIng group that promises that once they get everything going more they are going to start adding groups with causes. I contacted the owner who is a friend of mine and asked if she would be interested in adding Tudiabetes and the Diabetes Hands Foundation. They are going to have a button in which donations would be sent to Tudiabetes and the Diabetes Hands Foundation.

I'm trying to be a more active participate on my Ning sites that I belong to but with school and personal iss… Continue

Symlin update...crazy readings

Last night I went up to 30 mcq from 15 mcq. Well I was at 367 at 6:24pm by 8:15pm I was down to 54. That's with taking both a correction dosage and insulin for meal was a total of 19 units. Now this morning I was at 156 at 8:15am but now I'm at 322 at 10:56am. This is crazy. I'm now having to take a correction dosage for that. I retake it at 1230 for lunch.

"Brittle" Diabetic...out-date-term or term doctors' don't see much of"

I seen a post about this on another diabetic website and thought I'd write a post about it being a diagnosed "brittle" diabetic. I was told I was a "brittle" diabetic from the beginning when my numbers were all over the place. I wasn't this way when I was on the insulin pump but because of a loss of insurance I am not able to be on one anymore. I have to get my medicine either generic or through patient assistance programs. I only qualify for this as long as I am living with my mom, her husband,… Continue

Finally approval to see an Endocrinologist

I applied through the Utah Diabetes Center"s Treasure Chest Application. I was approved today that I am able to make an appointment with an endocrinologist, especially with the fact that I was also just started on Symlin and will be starting a combination of Cymbalta and depakote when the financial assistance start with that. That should be in a few weeks. Something needs to be done for the neuropathy. The pain is getting increasingly worse. Hopefully they will be able to help.

It took me a few days to get the hang of Symlin but I see a difference. The nausea went away. For me the key has been taking it before a meal and not taking a bolus for the meal. Then test an hour after and take it then instead. So since you aren't on the pump it's just take the correction for your reading pre meal and not insulin to cover the meal as well. take that one hour after the meal.
I was taking Effexor last year for anxiety/depression and one of the side effects is it helps with neuropathy. Thought I'd mention it.

Hi Cherise: It certainly would be nice if they would find a cure, but it will be as long time before that happens I am sure. Sharon

Hey Cherise,

I see you were from Sioux City IOWA. I am from Iowa too. Your cat is beautiful, I too have 2 cats they were to be my neices and for some reason I cant say NO. The Tabby Tom is really quite sensitive he has gotten so he wakes me if I am low in the night. He is a great cat no problems. The calico Sky is another story. Her mommy got run over and I work for a sheriffs office the police officers were just going to let nature take its course. I said NO way. I thought I would just get her health and then take her to the farm and that did not work. She thinks she is still a garbage can cat !
