Posted on October 5, 2009 at 5:30pm 3 Comments

There are a lot of different ways people celebrate World Diabetes Day, this year I decided to participate and be a part of the planning committee of a luncheon at Samuel U. Rodgers Health Center. I have volunteered at the health center since the age of 9. Nina Howard is the Director of Community Relations at Samuel U. Diabetes On My Mind

Posted on January 27, 2009 at 10:13pm 4 Comments

It doesn’t matter where I am or what I’m doing I can always spark a convo about diabetes. It’s cool to see people talk about diabetes. How diabetes affects them and their family. I’ve heard alot of great success stories. I’ve read alot of horror stories but recently I was able to hear Jane’s story from her sister. I have thought about Jane everday since last Saturday. I couldn’t shake her or get her off my mind. I know things happen for a reason… I decided to share Jane’s (fake name) story with… Continue

Healthier "D" & Healthier "Me"

Posted on January 13, 2009 at 12:26am 8 Comments

I wrote a blog a few months back called My 7 "Bad" Habit's as a Diabetic. I am slowly making adjustments, working on them. Heck, the hardest thing is saying no to Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and I said "NO" today. I know it's minor but I am proud of myself for not taking a piece. I am not ready to introduce the Cups back in my life...I am own a mission and I know I can't control myself. So--Out of sight, Out of my… Continue

"I agree, insulin is really, really important but for some people it can be helped with exercise. My endo says there are "brittle diabetics" meaning that exercise does lower their blood sugar. For me, I can lower in 10 minutes after a short…"

"Not all endos are created equal :S The first doctor I saw told me I was prediabetic and they would run further tests to see how it went. They didn't understand that I felt sick and was eating very little - so my levels were lower than usual. A…"

This is great information that you have posted. I am just readding more information on Dawn Phenonmenon, which my doctor suspects I have. I was so freaked out until I visted tuDiabetes and found out that I'm not alone. On top of that, I was thrilled to find a link for Christian Diabetics. This site is great. I've referred some of my Diabetic friends to TuDiabetes... I really hope they take advantage of the resources. Have a wonderful holiday.
