Singapore's lifescan page on test strip storage actually provides some insight. Humidity apparently is the culprit that will damage test strips.

I think: how do you extricate a strip from the vial? LOL! I have a hard enough time as is, and I don't ever overturn the vial to have one drop out or I'll end up with strips on the ground. And when my fingers are extra dry, I can hardly drag one o...
So I use One Touch Ultra test strips. In each box are 2 containers. In each container are 25 strips. Whenever I open a new box I consolidate the total 50 strips into one of those two containers and throw the other one away. What do you think about...

No coding at all is an impovement!
It was drummed into me to never leave the container uncapped so I close it immediately after removing a strip. Delicate things those strips.
Isn't there desiccant in the vials?

My husband and I were talking about diabetes today and I expressed how I feel like I have had diabetes for much longer than six years... I was diagnosed at 21-- so the situation was different from yours and David's.
