ChrisG replied to E. Louise's discussion 'TIghtening control with a G4' in the group Dexcom Users
"From a long term perspective, there are some drawbacks in targeting an A1c in that range. I am in my 26th year as a type 1. I always had A1c in the low to mid 6's. About 20 years into it, I lost the symptoms of low blood sugar. I would be…"

ChrisG replied to NatalieHodge's discussion 'Dreaded ???' in the group Dexcom Users
"Hi Natalie, So the sensor went in that time with no pain at all, but what happened was before the seven days were up, underneath the sensor became sore and very itchy. After about the 5 day mark I removed it - the hole where the actual sensor wire…"

ChrisG replied to MikeO's discussion 'CGM and fingerstick use' in the group Dexcom Users
"Less fingersticks here, although I will be the first to admit it is a slightly bad habit to get into. When I had the Freestyle Navigator, that thing was so accurate after the first day that I got into a very bad habit of almost never doing…"

ChrisG replied to NatalieHodge's discussion 'Dreaded ???' in the group Dexcom Users
"In my experience the ??? is almost always a sensor issue - sometimes they are bad out of the box, sometimes things happen to them as it seems in this case. Be careful of sensor pain (especially if the Dex is still working OK) - I got a staph…"

ChrisG replied to LukesMom's discussion 'Download G4 data on Mac using VMware' in the group Dexcom Users
"Lukes Mom - I just went through this EXACT thing a few days ago. Luca is right, but the problem is that the Dexcom G4 driver is a special one that also creates a virtual COM port on the computer that you install the Studio software on. I finally…"

ChrisG replied to Kristen's discussion 'Seven Plus Data Cable/Plug question' in the group Dexcom Users
"I remember testing this when I was traveling a lot, to try and save cables. The USB will NOT charge the battery, only the AC adapter unit will. And I also have an extra I can send you, looks like a bunch of other folks do as well."

ChrisG replied to Clare's discussion 'Swimming laps and the G4' in the group Dexcom Users
"I second Bradford's reply - RF just won't travel through water at all, water attenuates the signal so much that I think trying to get any readings at all back to your Dex receiver is going to be almost impossible."

ChrisG replied to 2TonTommy's discussion 'G4 calibration question' in the group Dexcom Users
"Helmut, Just out of curiosity, and to make sure I understand you - the Dex will *ask* you for BG values, but you don't enter them when asked, correct?"

ChrisG replied to smileandnod's discussion 'How Did You Get Your G4?' in the group Dexcom Users
"My Seven+ was way way out of warranty (I got 2 years out of it which was pretty amazing though), so when it started to die I asked Dexcom directly and they said that they were only shipping G4 and not any more Seven+ units. It sounds like maybe you…"

ChrisG replied to metheniac's discussion 'Non-belt case for G4?' in the group Dexcom Users
"Hello Lathump, I just got my G4, and after checking out the receiver I got the case out. Wow, forget about the masculinity, it is just a complete mess with the snaps and flaps, never mind the crappy slippery clip... I had expected something not good…"

ChrisG replied to MattVT's discussion 'Placing sensor on the arm' in the group Dexcom Users
"With the Dexcom 7, the Dexcom folks always said that the only site they 'approved' was the abdomen. However, the arm is pretty advantangeous if you also have a pump (which I am sure most of us do) Does anyone know if the G4 sensor is…"
