My story

Get a playlist! Standalone player Get Ringtones

Well I was diagnosed when I was 19 (1/2009). Had all the symptoms... dehydrated, running to the bathroom every 10 minutes, sick to my stomach, my mouth was so dry I had to take a drink every time I took a bite of food just to help it get down. Being so thirsty all the time and not knowing that I had diabetes, I would chug chocolate milk, juice, soda, water.... basically anything in front of me. Little did I know, all those sugary drinks were just making it worst.

One morning I woke up and went to the bathroom. I was walking into walls. I know I needed to go to the ER

When I got there they asked me 101 questions and sometimes it was hard to answer because i just couldn't concentrate. They did bloodwork and all that good stuff. I was told I would have to be admitted. I had ketoacidosis and a blood sugar over 1100. Wow! I spent 4 days in critical care so they could get things back under control. I was just DYING to get out of there. Every hour they poked my finger. I couldn't grip anything with my fingers they were so sore. I was about to tell the nurse to start doing my toes lol. I had to keep a blood pressure cuff on so they could take my blood sugar I believe every 45 mins. It was just a pain. I felt awful being hooked up to everything. Blood pressure cuff, ekg, iv. I kept getting tangled in all the cords.

Finally they moved me to a regular room for about 2 days. I thought it would be a relief, but my roommate was something else. I would never get any sleep because she would be yelling in the middle of the night. One day she had to get a blood transfusion. I went to the bathroom which was on her side of the room and I see blood everywhere! She pulled it out. I had to flag down a nurse. After that I felt like I was on pins and needles the whole time I was roomed with her. She was old and doped up on pain meds so i felt bad for her, but my goodness she was driving me nuts lol.

When I was finally released, I was so happy. To sleep in my OWN bed. To be able to relax and not have anything hooked up to me. It was great.

I've been doing a lot better lately. Usually I've been staying in the 100s, which isn't as bad as it used to be. I know it still needs work, but I'll get there =] I couldn't have done it without all of the support I've received especially from TUDIABETES. So thank you for all of my friends on here. I love you guys.

Hi Christina! Sorry to be so long in responding. Your pictures of your dogs are great! What are their names, age, etc.? We do live so close we ought to try and get together. How are you holding up in this heat wave...geez, 102 tomorrow! I will still take it over winter any day! Be well!

Well, aside from Achillie's tendonitis, I will be going into a legal battle with my landlord over his neglect to remedy illegal activity at my apartment building. He just looks the other way when the tenants blatantly and willfully violate the law.

It's going to be an ugly battle for sure. But either way,. he too must obey the law or face the consequences.

Landlords that 'don't see a thing' are bad landlords (AKA slumlords).

Did you have fun on your trip?

Oh, my last A1C a couple of weeks ago was 5.3 .

2 bad things though. I regained a ton of weight and my cholesterol is very high (again)...
