I was in Walgreens yesterday for something absolutley unrelated to D and saw this while I was wandering around the store. I had to do a double take and then got skeptical that it was marked wrong. FatCatAnna said… - I'll have to post my blog here at Tudiabetes that I did earlier this week at Diabetes1.org - having issues with Levemir - swelling where I inject - as well as blood glucose not being as good as when I was using Lantus. Some people are telling me with Levemir they had to increase their dosage - which is something I hadn't hoped to do with Levemir. For now, back to Lantus until I figure things out - but at least BG's are back in normal range (am going to post this same message on Robyn's page as well - since you are both Levemir babes ).

Robyn said… - I was on Lantus as well, didn't like it anymore....been on it for many years and every regime known to man...always had problems. Went onto Levemir and no longer have lows at night, I had to do a basal testing routine that was a pain in the ass, but worked. Levemir dosent overlap on me...Lantus did when I tried the split. I inject at 8am and 10 pm. I take my larger dose in the am and lesser at eve. I used to crash from 5am to 7am on Lantus taking full amount at night.
Now I am pretty steady, Just had to increase my humalog dose now......What a pain, I understand.
Google "basal testing" and it may help you. If you take more levemir in the am and very little at bed, amaybe that will help??
I cannot take alot of insulin at bed....hope this helps.

- Hi, just noticed that you are on Levemir, so am I....I had to split my dose am and pm and has helped alot, you may want to talk to your doctor about that....maybe it will help your am sugars..I had the same problem with one shot.
