I didn't do much, as I had to work all day. I did have really great BG results all day. My body must have known it was Diabetes Day!

My family held a surprise get together for me, I was hugged many many times, and I even met another diabetic at random (on the subway). It was a pretty sweet day (no pun intended). So how did you make your special day even brighter?

oh, haha! Lots!! I always get that, "but you don't look diabetic", too! Also: "oh, so you can't eat salt?" "so that means you have to always be eating lots of sugar?" "oh! yeah! that's what my grandma has!!!" "wow..you seem so normal!"

Me!! In high school I would bump into the same cutie everyday for testing before lunch in the nurse's office, and we dated for 4 months! It was cute- I never had to explain what "low" really meant, but it also meant that I couldn't milk my diabete...

My eyes get really dry, and my bones get kind of achy....that, of course, in addition to being thirsty and having to pee. Sometimes food tastes strange as well!! (ketchup tastes SO WEIRD).

Hi!! I know----it's crazy how there is this term everyone uses in the D community that I never heard of....SWAG....scientific wild a%* guess!!! I am using this method of carb counting whenever I eat out. It's crazy how it can be so difficult to guess the amount of carbs in things you get when your out...I am usually wrong at least 50% of the time! Thanks for the comment!! BTW---LUV your curly hair!!!

Thanks so much for getting back to me! I think the key is physical activity like you do, I'm just so lazy and with my BS's being so high I have no energy howdid you even begin to exercise and how did you build yourself up to run 2miles a day 6x a week ahh i envy you!!! And your not on a pump, is there a reason or your perfectly fine with insulin injections?

Hey Christine. You said you read my post, I've written a couple, were you talking about the diabulimia one? I see you have an A1c of 5.4%, that is amazing - good for you! My A1c is out of control at around 12-13% (might even be a little higher now). I'm so used to feeling like shit that the way I feel is the way I think everyone feels. I have no idea how it feels to be healthy with energy. ugh, its so frustrating the whole weight thing with insulin. Your very thin what do you do to keep your weight in check? What's a day in the life with diabetes for you? How many units do you take per day? How many grams of carbs do you have a day? do you exercise? sorry so many questions its just amazing to be able to talk to people who have diabetes because I never have before. Write me back I would love to talk!
