Hey!....I'm in Canada; and over here as in most European countries, our method of measuring BG is by mmol/L (millimoles per litre), where as in the U.S., (your method) is by mg/dl (milligrams per decilitre). The conversion is done via mmol/L multiplied by 18 to give me "your" readings....or dividing mg/dl by 18 to give you "our" readings. So for example, 31 multiplied by 18 = 30.5 (I rounded it out to 31!!!)
I don't know about you, but I still get ups and down of energy, lol.
It's great chatting with you....take care now!....linda.

550...Wow! That's 31 by our standards. Aside from the neuropathy, were you not experiencing any symptoms? Bet that shook you up some!! Glad you're here...where you need to be; amongst friends!
Keep in touch, OK?....luv, linda.

Glad to hear your mom is OK...how old is she? Do you think she may have had it for a while before dx? As for myself, I think it was more or less official in March of 2003, but I know I had it much longer than that. How my Dr announced it was rather unusual as well...it was always about keeping an eye on my BG and doing occasional tests, then one day, (in March 2003) he simply referred to it as "your diabetes"!! Did you suspect something was amiss when YOU were dx?

Oh, oh, oh!!! I wish I could grow nails long enough to look as pretty as yours!!! I'll have to stop doing my homecare work in order to get that accomplished tho' . I'll just have to contend with painting my toenails for now.

Hi Everyone, Well what can I say. I was diagnosed last Feb with type 2 diabetes. Since then I have lost 50 lbs and going for the next 50, which by the way seem to be harder to lose.
I am here to find people to talk to about all of this mess... looking for encouragement and friendship. I am a mom of two, my daughter who is 12 and a wonderful heart. And My son who is 18 and just a big oh boy. about 6'5 now. AHhhhhh . Anyone wanna feed him for me? LOL. I am married to the love of my life. We have been married for 14 years now and heading for a life time. Our Daughter has Spondylolisthesis. (broken bones in the back)or( a condition in which a bone (vertebra) in the lower part of the spine slips forward and onto a bone below it.) Which keeps us going to the Cooks Children hopspital quiet a bit. But she is doing well. We are also military and stationed here at Dyess AFB Texas. So send me a comment or a message and we can talk.

Becoming Diabetic.

Well, what can I say that everyone here hasn't been through themselves. I was diagnosed with Type 2 about a year ago in Feb 2008. When I was diagnosed I was shocked to say the least. I went in with foot pain which turned out to be neuropathy. To find out my pain was due to not being diagnosed early enough with diabetes. We figure I have had Type 2 diabetes for about 8 years. I take Metformin (850mg 2xday) and neurontin 600mg 3xday)and now lisinopril (5mg)to protect my kidneys from any further da… Continue
