"When you took the 1 unit for the cake and gelato, did you check to see what your BS was before you ate it? If so, what was it? What is your insulin to carb ratio anyway? Mine for example is 1 unit per 11 grams of carbs. All of this has to do with…"

"Okay, you are technically what they call a Type 1.5. However, in reality you are a Type 1. I heartily recommend skipping the cook book for now. You spend the money first and get the book called: Think Like a Pancreas - By Gary Scheiner. That will…"

Clinitest replied to Marie's discussion 'Best way to wear your pump while sleeping????'
"I clip my pump to an arm band. I don't like to let it roam around in my bed with me since it may warm up the insulin too much. Too much warmth reduces its effectiveness over time."

Hi Ken, thanks for your guidance. I have been monitoring my blood glucose levels. Fasting levels are in 120's regularly - 129, 123, 131, 128, 126, 122, etc. HbA1C - 7.1 %. I have also got the C-Peptide test and the value is - 3.54 ng/ml (normal range 1.1 - 4.4 ng/ml). Looks like I am inching close to being a Type1, what do you say? What kind of steps do I need to take?

Hi Ken,
Thanks very much on the information regarding Type 1.5 LADA. I will mostly schedule a C-peptide test soon as consult my Endocrinologist.

Hello Ken, what are the signs of Type 1.5 LADA? How to evaluate? Did you guess the same using my HBA1C results? Thanks.

Hi Ken, Thanks for the information on the reunion dates. May is a lovely month for Boston. I am looking forward to finding out more about what the program will be for us. I live 25 miles from Joslin now, but I guess that wouldn't qualify me for a hotel stay!! You mentioned that you took the Boston public transportation system around the area. I used it instead of a car until after grad school. I know alot of Boston trivia and can tell you where the "Charley Card," which is your ticket, got it's name.(Not telling now)
Have a good weekend.

Hi all of you North Easterners,

I will be in Boston on May 27th (Sunday) - 30th (Wed) to be a lab rat at the Joslin Clinic for my 50+ year study. If anyone is around and would like to meet up and talk about the "good ole days" let me know! I will treat you to some coffee and donuts....

....or maybe some Garbanzo beans and a salad.... :)

Shoot me a message if you are interested.

Thank you! Ken
