My name is Melanie. I am currently finishing up my master's degree in chemistry and I am going to try and find a teaching position. What I really want to do is science outreach (ie teach kids to love science in an informal setting).

I was dx'd at age 6 and given control of my own diabetes pretty early on. I use the term "control"" pretty loosely, since my A1c ran in the double digits throughout high school. I got my first pump when I was 17 and soon my A1c was down to the 9s, but it wasn't until recently that I really decided to take control over the big-D and now I sit comfortably right around 7. Ping and Dex in hand, I have a lot of hope for a long and healthy future!
