Hey Anthony! I recently started riding again, but I'm only doing really short rides. I've never been a serious rider, but I do like to add in ten or fifteen miles three or four times a week to walking. I have a recumbent bike in the house I do ab...

No doubt in my mind I have issues with insulin resistance. I take 84 units of lantus/night, then my correction factor on novo is 1:15 with my carb cover at 1:8. Probably TMI, but at certain times of the month, I'm way more insulin sensitive than ...

Hey Troy, Hubby is Air Force and has been through the med board three times with a return-to-duty all three times. (Not for diabetes related issues, although he was just diagnosed with diabetes recently.) Absolutely check with the VA on a vocati...

Gerry, I'm 51, LADA. also in Roanoke Valley. Day 3 of insulin..don't know what my numbers will be like or if I can have a sandwhich again. I've been controlling this roller coaster ride with a low carb diet. I'm still in disbelief that my Type 2 ...

I don't think he was trying to tell me that he'd never seen anyone with an A1C over 7, I think he was saying that *I* wasn't doing enough to control my diabetes and that his other patients were doing great.. so the problem was with me, not with my...

Connie, Seriously, don't take crap from them. You may not want to be as blunt as I am if you're not comfortable with that, but you can look them in the eye and tell them..."I do not appreciate being called a liar!" Also, if they are telling you ...

Honestly, my lantus never makes it to the 28th day. I usually use a whole vial in about three weeks ish? I've never really paid attention that closely. Most of the time lately my fasting sugars have been doing much better. Occasionally my sugar wi...

Hey Connie, Everyone's ratios are different based on weight, level of physical activity & personal biochemistry (that's the toughest part!). Our female hormones also factor in. Illness & infection play additional havoc. A new vial of insulin is ...

Hey Gerri, The correction dose they have (had) me on was 1 unit per twenty points. I called a really good friend of mine who has a type I daughter. She's seventeen and has been on insulin since she was two. I told her what my ratios were and what...

Hi Connie, Wanted to add my welcome! Happy you're here. Wonderful that you now have a good endo. Not easy to find one who's sensitive to our concerns. Many people are more carb sensitive/insulin resistant in the morning & need more insulin to co...

Hi Connie! I just read your post - and really feel for what you're going thru'. Hang in there - it sounds as if the endo you are seeing now is much better then the previous one(s). I've ditched a few over the years let me tell you. I wish I could find an endo that knows about pumping - if I could - I'd ditch him - but he's good at writing out prescriptions - sad to say. I've had diabetes a long time - so I sort of know what I'm doing (tho' I'm always learning something new from the gang here at "Tuville"). Take care - and know that you can holler for help anytime here - we'll all try our best.

Well it sounds like you're on the right track and that's great! If you get on the pump they will set you up with a Certified Diabetes Educator to train you on the pump and they can help you with all the details and understanding everything much better. You will get alot of great info at this site as well. You can search old forum discussions on what you're looking for or start your own just like you did. Don't be afraid of the fast acting insulins either. They help cover your carbs at meals, corrections and help keep your numbers much more stable! The more educated you become with D's the easier it will become for you and you will feel better physically and emotionally as well! :)

Hey! I'm doing well thanks! I just read your post. I read you may go on the pump. Have you made any decisions about that yet? All I can do is recommend it! I was taking MDI for over 20 yrs before I finally decided to go for it. It's been the best thing for me! If you have any questions feel free to ask! Take care!
