hi, Chrystal, welcome to TuDiabetes! I have also had it since I was 13, in fact, I had my 13th birthday in the hospital, learning how to give myself shots. Please join us today for the celebration of World Diabetes Day by participating in The Big Blue Test - here - today, we will not feel alone with our diabetes.

Hello CRYSTAL, Would you take the advice of a 92, computer rookie, who was clinically dead, in 1977 with a BG of 880. I live in TORONTO, ONTARIO. CANADA,where INSULIN was discovered by DRS.BANTING & BEST, JULY 30 1921. With my second hance at life, I promised that my people skills to reach out as a ROLE MODEL to help as many diabetics, in many areas to see the POSITIVE SIDE OF DIABETES. So far I have a senior that is going to WEAR OUT, not RUST OUT. Our company BLUE ROSE DIABETES FOUNDATION, will have our website up and running next year. We are a group of diabetics helping diabetics, our flower is BLUE ROSE, its meaning is 'ATTAINING THE IMPOSSIBLE' our motto and mission. Guidelines I suggest to those having a hard time dealing with diabetes are, 1. have a good diabetic team (diabetic doctor, dietitan, podiatrist, social worker, pharmacist) 2. weara MEDIC-ALERT identification, it SPEAKS for you in case of emergency, 3. listen to your body, ittells you when to eat, what to eat, rest, EXERCISE, sleep, 4. have a DIABETIC BUDDY, someone you are in contact with EVERYDAY, they could SAVE YOUR LIFE, 5 drink a glass of water before each meal, so thatyou wont have much room for desserts. 6 join a diabetes support group and share experiences, problems and good times. Contact your local LIONS CLUBS, as a LION member since 1972, they have an excellent diabetes prevention and awareness program. Tell them AMIGOS said get involved, My last bit of wisdom to you is, DONT WORRY ABOUT KNOWING PEOPLE, JUST BE A PERSON WORTH KNOWING, Rember that you are one of a kind, YOUR SPECIAL. A CANADIAN SOUL BROTHER, clarence.haynes@sympatico.ca
