Me, too!! We've been TTC for 6 months. If we are successful this cycle, the due date will be "Friday the 13th" of August (based on date of ovulation). As much as I want to have a child, I'm almost kind of hoping that it doesn't work out this time...

Hi Shannon. I know what you mean, it's such a let down when I get my period each month too. I would say that it's getting harder as each month goes by, but it's actually more like I'm just getting used to it. Like, it's easier emotionally to not g...

I know how you feel, Lori. I'm 35 and have been TTC for two years. Unfortunately, we learned that my husband has some issues, which are (hopefully) being resolved. It's the hardest thing to get my period each month. Like a lot people out there, I'...

I have been TTC for over 15 months since our wedding in August 2008. I have kept my A1C under 7.0 since then and have had the ok from my endocrinologist all these months, but so far no luck. It has been incredibly frustrating, especially with my 3...

Ten Things I hate about Diabetes

I am in one of those moods today...

10. You have to be "on" all the time...there's no down time. Every move, as well as its consequences, must be thought out, planned and calculated.

9. Can't go anywhere without my "stash"...a simple walk down the block requires meter, glucose tabs, ID and snacks. Longer treks require extra pump supplies and insulin.

8. That same simple walk will cause your BG to plummet unless you remember to set a temp basal on your pump

7. Taking a sick day to tame a high… Continue

Out of the Mouths of Babes...

I am a teacher. I make my students fully aware of my diabetes on the first day of school. I always try to give them an "in a nutshell" version of the disease, as well as my pump. They have come to know that when I go back to my desk in the middle of a lesson, I'm testing my BG. They know that when they hear my pump beep 3 times, it means i have it on a special setting (temp basal rate!). They know that if I stop to eat something and don't offer them anything, I'm not being rude...I just need a s… Continue

Realization

I remember being in high school and hanging out at my friend's house watching movies. Every once in a while a group of us would all get together and watch the latest release on VHS (gasp! What's that??!). Well, this night in particular the movie was Steel Magnolias. Imagine my excitement when I realized Julia Roberts was playing a person with diabetes!! Finally, a character I could relate to. Well, my excitement quickly turned to horror as I watched the events of this character's life unfold. By… Continue

Of Blogs and Blood Glucose

Ever have a stubborn BG day? You know those days...the ones where you wake up at 88 and it all goes downhill from there? The ones where you test an hour later on and you are 153 (Did someone say dawn phenomenon??)? You eat breakfast (same exact one you had yesterday) and take your dose plus a correction. Then you test a few hours later and you are in the 220's. Hmm, yesterday at this time, you were 114. So you correct again, and an hour later it's 165, so you think, "it's going down...time for l… Continue

Hi Di,

Thanks for the warm welcome. I will be watching for your experiences with the CGM. My doctor seems to pushing me towards the Medtronic, mostly because of the ease of reporting (i.e.; all of your device information is gathered and reported together on the Medtronic Website), but I am leery about the inaccuracy so many are talking about.

Thank you... I was just talking with my girlfriend about what I want to do with my life, and even before I got diabetes I wanted to exploit the fact that the U.S. pays off it's doctors to not create cures. Anyway thank you very much, I am doing well. I have offered my body up for an experiment for diabetes and I have to go into the hospital for a week starting Monday. Let's hope it does good for the community after its over :)

yeah the #2 was based on a friend who grabbed some popcorn, she thought i said yes to sharing. I jumped on her, because i needed all those carbs, and she threw the popcorn back in the bag. No point in explaining, i was at work. SO i like that everybody at my work brings snacks with them, so sometimes i ask for some when i feel low and they happily give me some.
