"Better than nothing, perhaps. But I was doing the DASH diet when I was dx with T2 Diabetes. It is waay too high in carbs for a diabetic. If that is not your concern, perhaps it will help. Good luck...Judith in Portland."

Youth Advisory Board puts on Transition Day at UCSF

Posted on June 24, 2014 at 6:30pm 0 Comments

The Youth Advisory Board, or YAB as we like to call ourselves, organized UCSF’s first ever Transition Day! This day was intended for youth with T1D and their families to get some information on transitioning from high school to college (or, in some cases, any kind of life change)! We had awesome members from the diabetes community come out and participate in several lectures and panel sessions for attendants to get some hard questions answered (i.e. drinking and college, health insurance,…

Camp One with Chris Dudley

Posted on June 23, 2014 at 10:15am 0 Comments

At Camp One, we had the amazing opportunity to watch an amazing and inspirational speech by no other than Chris Dudley, NBA center from San Diego, CA. At this event, a bunch of kids including Lucas (just bigger kid), had the opportunity to teach several Oakland Raider players about the interesting and sometimes confusing line between carbohydrates for young people with diabetes. We are all looking forward to this event…

These programs will be integrated into schools, collaborating with villages and community health clinics, partnering with small businesses, as well as establishing a partnership with the established national Balinese health… Continue

Hello! Thank you for having me as a friend DASH...
California....so far away, but it feels like you're right here! That's one of the appealing factors of tu.diabetes. I'm in Canada...in the southwestern part of the province of Ontario...a city named Kitchener-Waterloo (2 cities joined together). I'm a wife of 33 years (hubby is also diabetic), mom to two grown children (one 28, the other 26), a grandma to 3 lovable little boys, a teacher, and before that an illustrator (still do some) and graphic designer....I speak French fluently, I read, history fascinates me, I paint, sing, walk, garden, ski, ride my bike....did I mention "read"? I love having friends over, I bake/cook, am an eclectic music lover, an animal lover...the ocean...ah the ocean...it speaks to me! Oh...and I have diabetes (and a few other things).
Nice to have you as a friend!!! Is DASH only in the US??
Keep in touch, ok?

We're so happy that you're finally here!
Welcome home DASH! Is this organization solely in the US?
This is a great place to share, to learn, and to grow...all the while meeting new people world wide, and making friends.
Take a peek at some the groups when you get a chance. Just go to the top of your page, and click on "Groups".
Once in, you can either peruse the wide array of available groups....or simply type a specific interest in the space provided.
Take in some of the blogs/discussions as well.

The resource boxes at the top of the home "Home" page, and
"About us" at the very bottom of your page and every page (the footer), offer you more information still.
Hope you find the support and information you came looking for.
Here is a useful link to get you on your way:
There are also groups here for young people, and parents of children with diabetes, such as....
"Teenagers with Type 1", "College Students with Diabetes", "Young Adults with Diabetes",
"Parents of Kids with type 1" and "Kids with Diabetes"
Take care....and keep in touch!
