Hello D~Ann,
I'm probably not that much different from a T1. I too have to have insulin. My Doc says my Pancreas no longe makes Insulin, so for all intents and purposes my Pump is my Pancreas. I've often wondered if I'm really a T2. He says the tests you have to run to find out--like the C peptide and the other one, I forget what it is--are real expensive and sometimes the insurance companies balk at doing them. And I really like my Dr. He says it's really not as important what we call it, as it is how we treat it. I just look at it like I have Diabetes.
Anyway, Psalm 91 is also one of my favorite Scripture passages in the Bible. So much so that I memorized it about 25 years ago and still have it right there in my head where God put it.
Blessings to you and your family

Hi D~Ann

Welcome to the "Spouses of..." group. It's been a little quiet around there lately. Sometimes that's a good thing, but let us know if you have any questions!

Looking through the different ning networks and came upon this one. My husband is a T1 so it sounded like a beneficial site to join.
What do you do for a living?
Retired Registered Nurse

A Truly Virulent Disease!

Although I had been a nurse for several years, I had never realized the truly virulent nature of diabetes. My husband has Type 1 and has managed to maintain a tight control over his blood sugars through the years. He is very disciplined with diet and keeping a low reading. Now I help him manage the process, keeping records, giving his Insulin, cooking, etc. It does help that I am a nurse, but what it really takes is determination and vigilance to a fault. There are other immediate relatives in his family also with T1, including a granddaughter. I pray for the time to come when a cure will be discovered and or developed. God bless and keep all who come here and all those afflicted with this devastating disease!
