Little rant here - for the past year and a half I've been eating Kellogg's Special K Protein Plus cereal. A serving has only 9 grams of net carbs. I'm fairly carb sensitive in the morning, and this…Continue

How good is your control with oral meds?

Hi,I was diagnosed as having T1 3 years ago. However, after a meeting with a new endocrinologist yesterday, she ordered antibody tests to see if my T1 diagnosis was wrong. She thought I might have MODY instead because I only take 2 units of Lantus a day and rarely have highs. She said that we could try oral meds instead of insulin if the antibody tests are negative. My question is - how tight control can I get on oral meds? With a low carb diet and low insulin doses I've had A1Cs in the mid 5s…See More

Hey T1s!!!
Whether you were diagnosed back in the day when it was "Juvenile Diabetes;" you are a newly diagnosed college freshman; or you were diagnosed well into your second career, the reality is that 85% of those living with type 1 diabetes are over 18!
Without diabetes camps, it's hard to meet other adults living with T1D with whom you can share information, ask questions, and get support.
That's why Beer & Basals is for You!
Beer & Basals is a casual gathering for adults with T1D who want to get to know others living with T1D and expand their circle of support. Beer & Basals will be hosted by Carb DM volunteers Breanne Harris and Katie Craft.
Our first meeting is coming up on Monday, February 27, 7 - 9 pm. Join us at Crepevine in Palo Alto (367 University Ave)! Hope to see you there!
