Emergency kit training today!

TuDiabetes has definitely enabled me to be out there more with my diabetes than ever... Today I trained my new boss and her admin on my emergency kit at work. Earlier I told her I was diabetic and she wanted to learn more- and how to be prepared. So, I've gone from "it will never happen to me but I have a kit in my desk and my purse" to - "hey, it could happen- here's what you do in case, and please take care of me". Just wanted to share my experience because for some reason it feels a bit odd t… Continue

Oh the Neglect!

Alright, I started this new job that has increased my workload and stress two-fold. And, oh, I have to shove in eating (or not eat) just to maintain. I know it's terrible! I've barely been on TuDiabetes! What the heck!?! Anyway, the weight I fought to lose has slowly crept a bit back and I do realize I've been neglecting myself. I've also done a bit of traveling and you know how the food is when you travel- and the hours are a little crazy. Yes, I do the testing and the shots and everything- I j… Continue

"Hi New Team.... I'm Diabetic."

So I had my second meeting with my new sales team at Dell today. This meeting was about getting to know each other as a group as I am just now beginning to introduce myself to them. I just started managing 16 people and I'm sure they are sizing me up. :) So, I accomplished a first.... I told all of them I'm Diabetic! In the past I would let some know here and there when it came up- yada, yada. This time I decided it is me and a part of me, what makes me tick, and how I have to manage it. I expla… Continue

Sneaks up on you, doesn't it?

So Day 4 of my son starting his new Kindergarten and I'm rushing around this morning. BS was 116, took my usual 6 units of Lantus. Right before we walk out the door (so Zach won't be late!) I see white spots and realized I was having a low. Where did that come from?? I check the BS again and I'm 62 all the sudden. Slamming some apple juice down I'm hoping I get better along the drive to school and feel better. Ok, made it to school. Get to work and eat my breakfast and get out my Humalog for my… Continue

Can I say I have the best family in the world?

This site has really opened up myself as a diabetic unlike I ever have. For the first time I've met others and shared experiences after 13 years of doing it myself and not knowing ANYONE that is a T1 diabetic or T2 for that matter. Mannys video on Youtube on the drawings that children made inspired me to send it to my entire family (and inlaws!) and shared with them this site and how active I have become on this site. It's been an outlet for me in dealing with my diabetes. Anyway, my mom, aunt a… Continue

(Save this part for tomorrow 'cause I'm not getting up early to do it!!!)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DEAR DANA!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!

and many, many ore!

Your kids are adorable. The little boy with the blue tongue is quite a fisherman, isn't he?

I mad at Dell right now!! New computer and I find out the the Internet Explorer is corrupted!! Can't afford their ridiculous fees to find the problem and correct it. They will, however, help me wipe out my drives and bring it back to factory specs. I'll lose all those little things that people have helped me add things. Humpf! :o( Boo hoo!

Hi there, Dana. Well I'm lunatic enough to work in an ad agency, so I must really be a glutton for punishment! Hope all is well for you.

Hey, Dana! It was so great to hear from you, too. Sorry to hear work has been so stressful... I hear ya loud and clear. Coworkers sometimes ask me, "what did you do this weekend?" The truth is I like to do NOTHING because the work week wears me out. It sounds a little pathetic to say "I spent the weekend being a couch potato," but I can't deny that's how I spent last weekend! Oh well, guess there's nothing wrong with a little R&R.
