"Hi Mike, I've been T1 Diabetic for 16 years now. I did shots FOREVER until my friend made me look at the Omnipod. It fits perfectly with my lifestyle. So, yes, Spencer will have to make the right decision for himself- with your support. But…"

Pod, My Arm and West Texas

Posted on September 5, 2010 at 6:56pm 8 Comments

So we took a Labor Day weekend trip to West Texas to visit my in-laws and the 3 grandparents. There was no internet, FB, or phone service where we were. :) I took all my supplies and was ready. I decided to move the Pod to my arm this time to try it out while I wasn't at work. What I forgot about is how visible it would be. Oh well, here goes nothing! It was interesting showing a 93 year old, 89 year old and a 85 year old all about my OmniPod and how it is helping me and showing them how it… Continue

One month on the POD.. so far :)

Posted on August 9, 2010 at 11:39am 2 Comments

So I'm one month into the OmniPod pump (my new little friend). I have learned a lot and am getting used to it. The proof will be in my overall A1C numbers after a period of time but I'm very grateful to the fact is I'm not doing 7+ insulin shots a day! My family and friends have been SO supportive in this new journey of mine. So, THANK YOU. I think my original issue was the lack of support that I got to start. It was a bit of a bummer. I didn't feel taken care of... I gave the doctors office my… Continue

Time to do the OmniPOD People!

Posted on May 26, 2010 at 2:40pm 3 Comments

I'm in the process of getting on the OmniPod! My newly diagnosed T1 friend swears by it and pushed me to take a leap of faith and make my life easier without 6+ shots a day on two insulins and multiple tests. I'm ready. The day I decided and met with the doc I cried the entire day. It brought up a wave of emotions for me. It was very hard to explain to people that do not deal with this disease why it brought so But it did. I'm SOOO old school. 15 years into this disease I do extremely well with… Continue

Emergency kit training today!

Posted on September 24, 2008 at 5:34pm 3 Comments

TuDiabetes has definitely enabled me to be out there more with my diabetes than ever... Today I trained my new boss and her admin on my emergency kit at work. Earlier I told her I was diabetic and she wanted to learn more- and how to be prepared. So, I've gone from "it will never happen to me but I have a kit in my desk and my purse" to - "hey, it could happen- here's what you do in case, and please take care of me". Just wanted to share my experience because for some reason it feels a bit odd… Continue

Oh the Neglect!

Posted on September 18, 2008 at 7:47pm 5 Comments

Alright, I started this new job that has increased my workload and stress two-fold. And, oh, I have to shove in eating (or not eat) just to maintain. I know it's terrible! I've barely been on TuDiabetes! What the heck!?! Anyway, the weight I fought to lose has slowly crept a bit back and I do realize I've been neglecting myself. I've also done a bit of traveling and you know how the food is when you travel- and the hours are a little crazy. Yes, I do the testing and the shots and everything- I… Continue
