"i hate to say this but i think he needs an a1c to be sure wen i was 10 yers old thay did the urine teast negtive sugar
but wen thay did the a1c it was 7.9
normal kids do not have a 190 blood sugar right after
eating no matter what so please have…"

Where does the time go? I can't believe that it's been almost a year since my last post!! I'm truly sorry, but his past year has really kicked my *ss!! So what is new you may ask?? Lots!!!
- This past year my oldest daughter was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease. Not diabetes like her younger sister, Olivia, but with Alopecia Universalis. Her body is attacking her hair follicles and she lost all of her hair. She is completely bald - no hair, no eyebrow, no eyelashes, no body…
Summer time may mean more time!

Hello everyone! Wow this place is rocking! So many more members since the last time that I visited tudiabetes and hopefully more people that I will be able to connect with. With me being a teacher, I'm glad to see the school year end. This past few months have been quite frustrating and stressful and I'm glad to have summer here to relax a little. Two years ago today my sweet little Olivia was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. She has diabetes, but diabetes doesn't define who she is as a person. We love you!
2009 JDRF Beach Ball Gala

This past weekend (March 14th, 2009) was the Northwestern Pennsylvania chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's annual "Beach Ball Gala" to help find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes. Olivia was choosen to be this year's "Fund A Cure Kid". We had members of JDRF (Chris Britt and Tom Balos) come to our house to interview us and to take video of Olivia. We looked at your pictures together and I showed her that your daughter also has diabetes, look at her needles, etc. We don't know any other kids with Diabetes, so I've been buying story books for her that deal with diabetes and she enjoys that.
