Hypoglycemia and Work Suspension

Several months ago, I was at work and became hypoglycemic. I went and told my supervisor they needed to send me on my break immediatly. She informed me that I could go in approx. 20 minutes, when the other lady came back.
My manager came back and told me to either drink some OJ, or eat some candies because they could not send me on break at that time.
Today it happened again. I was talking and then I was told I became drunk acting. Stumbling into walls, etc. I went and took a Klonopin (as I have… Continue

David...
That's sad to hear that you've given up. Please don't get up. It's your life. It's your health. Even if you dont do ALL that you should be doing. Please at least try to do what you can.

Hi David! I'm from Delaware (the First State!) and I was diagnosed in 2005, as Type 2. They started me on insulin and oral meds right out of the gate. The more I research, the more I think I may be a Type 1.5. I've lost over 65 lbs. since my diagnoses and have the exercise and carb counting down to a science. My bg numbers can be very even and predictable at times but then they'll go off the charts for no apparent reason. I'm on Lantus (28-34 U) and glipizide (10 mgs. twice a day) I also take a chromium supplement and a good multi-vitamin. My 1st endo(who moved to Texas) and now my new endo, have been pushing to get me on either the pump or some other type of fast-acting insulin and I'm fighting them on it. I think I can control the highs with diet (ie. VERY limited carbs) or getting on the treadmill to bring the highs down.
I see that you have researched all the cgm's and that's where I am now. I don't have hypo-unawareness, thank goodness, but I feel that the more info I have, the better control I'll have. My new endo has ordered the 2 tests I need to finally determine if I'm Type 2 or 1.5. (the c-peptide test and the anti-body test)
Do you have any comments or suggestions for me? Is the cgm route the way for me to go (expense-wise) or is that over-kill? I use the Freestyle Flash and really rely on it, but it only gives you a moment -in-time picture ,unless you test every hour of every day, which would also be pretty expensive. My new endo has also suggested Prandin, which I did a little research on. It sounds comparable to the fast-acting insulin and he said it would take the place of my glipizide.
Any info an/or suggestions would be great.
You can either comment here (if you care to) at TuDiabetes or email me @ jeanovan@yahoo.com. Thanks!

Hi David, I ran across one of your comments on tattoo ink that could potentially read blood sugar - I was wondering if you could send me the link!?
