Tell us more about you (optional)
After being diagnosed with Type 1 in 1993 I was on injections for about for about six years first using syringes then quickly moved on to syringes plus a Humalog pen. One day my wife and I were watching the Miss America pageant and I saw the winner, Nicole Johnson talking about having Type 1 and using a pump. I had never heard of a pump but knew it was for me and so I got onto a pump very quickly. I attended a local diabetes support group but found us 'pumpers' were not getting much opportunity to talk about our unique issues so I started a group on the side just for pumpers. I ran the group for about seven years until 2009 when an employment opportunity at the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics took over my life. The pumper group did not carry on during my absence so I have been sort of floating on my own for the past while. I'm happy to have found a place where I can share some of my experience and learn from others with Type 1. There's so much focus on Type 2 that often I feel we are left out. Glad to be here to help and be helped.

Welcome to the family!! On this forum you will learn so much. Most of what you will learn is that you are not alone. Everyone here is supportive and will provide answers to your questions. Search the site for answers. Read the discussions and blogs for information. There are videos to help you understand diabetes and its treatment. Most of all there is family to talk to and vent to, if needed.

Once in, you can either peruse the wide array of available groups....or simply type a specific interest in the space provided.
Take in some of the blogs/discussions as well.
The resource boxes at the top of the home "Home" page, and
"About us" at the very bottom of your page and every page (the footer), offer you more information still.
