OmniPod you are killing me!!

I made the mistake of changing the batteries on my PDM. Huge mistake.PDM says time is wrong and must be updated. Walks me through time update and date update. Next screen, your pod must be deactivated. WTF. I just put the pod in yesterday. I sort of have things planned for the next 3-4 hours and one of them wasn't changing my pod.Anyone who may be reading from a tubed system. Keep in mind when you jump on the pod bandwagon and something like this happens, it is all or nothing. At least tubed,…See More

The new Omnipod PDM, How I hate thee (or the FDA, not sure who is to blame)....and now Insulet

Posted on November 1, 2013 at 9:00am 5 Comments

First, the new smaller pods are great. Then the PDM which is not so great:

1. Why do I need a PDM ID screen? (Is there a thought that a whole gaggle of us diabetics are getting together and throwing our PDM's together for fun to see who brings the right one home at the end of the night?)

2. Temp Basal. Previous you could say temp basal and go up a % or down a %. Thanks insulet for thinking we are not smart enough to understand a negative means less, so now we have to click…

Type 1 on Victoza Continued....

Posted on October 7, 2011 at 5:31pm 0 Comments

I am still playing around with my basal rates to get them just right.

For me, I do end up shooting the entire bolus up front. It is like being back on shots, but not! I have gotten the pen I think up to around 1.5-1.6mg. I only know I am a 3-4 clicks beyond 1.2. I am going to turn the darn thing all the way to 1.8mg and see how that goes over the long weekend. No way I would try this without being on the Dexcom.

If I can figure out how to attach them, I will post before… Continue

Type 1 on Victoza Continued

Posted on September 30, 2011 at 8:00am 0 Comments

Well, it has been a weird ride.

I am now taking 1.2mg and have been for my third day. The nauseau is over, however you really do feel full all the time. I skipped breakfast yesterday as I just couldn't as I felt so full. My insulin usage has dropped mostly because of the drop in my basal insulin which went from 21.7 units down to 19 units or so.

As I was taking Symlin prior, figuring out the bolus for meals was bizarre. I use to bolus 30% up front and square 70% over an… Continue

Type 1 Starting on Victoza

Posted on September 26, 2011 at 7:00pm 2 Comments

I started on Victoza 3 days ago. I decided after reading others experience to document my experience to help others considering it, and maybe so I will remember why I decided to do it in the first place!

On day one, I injected .3 of Victoza at 10pm. No issues with nauseau on day 1 and no real impact on blood sugar on day 1.

On day two, I injected .6 of Victoza at 10pm. No issues with nausea on day 2 though I did see slightly lower BG's throughout the day.

It is… Continue
