Welcome All!!
I'm new to this page but am looking forward to meeting lots of people here. I was diagnosed with Type 1 at 15 years old. At the time I figured this thing would shorten my life, that I wouldn't make it to 40. Here I am, though, approaching that age and without any complications to speak of. I wouldn't wish this on anyone though, but it is controllable. I believe I have been lucky more than anything. I love to eat but have a high metabolism so it is easy to keep weight off. I just wish it were easier to a blood sugar level where it should be. This is a daily battle as you all know. Keep up the good fight and welcome here!
PS: It would be great to find some old friends. I used to be a counselor at Camp Buck in Lake Tahoe. I was there for five years about 10 years ago and would like to know how anyone from there is doing. Anybody know anyone who might have gone there?

One of my first jobs was at St. Mary's Hospital in Reno. I worked there for 10 years. Over that time I got to know a lot of people in health care. I was asked to help out with support groups that the Diabetes center put on. This was not something I had done before, or did I ever participate in a support group. I was just fine doing this by myself. Carol Bradley was a nurse who talked me into helping out and I eventually found it rewarding. She also helped me get into pump therapy, as prior to… Continue

I know it’s hard to believe just how fast the years go by living with D. 10, 20, 30, and with my friend Richard 62 years. It has only been 34 years for me! An awareness of the D. and a sense of humor have gotten me through most years! LOL There are a lot of people to talk to about it now. I think that it is so wonderful to have this kind of support at your fingertips!
