Great the Levemir is helping!

Hmmm, about the afternoon numbers. How high & how long after eating? Afternoon is usually when mine are the lowest. Guess it's due to afternoon running around.

A couple of thoughts. Maybe you need a slightly higher Levemir dose in the morning? What are you eating for lunch? Wondering if it's something heavy in protein or fat that's slow in digesting & causing highs later. Can you do some moderate exercise in the afternoon? Nothing major, just like a long walk.

Something I have to do with dinner because of gastroparesis is take a another shot about 3 hours after eating. The delayed stomach emptying
causes me to have lows 2 hours after eating, but highs hours later. I tested a lot for weeks to see when the rise happened so I didn't send myself hypo. How's your BG two hours after eating? The other thing that helped me was taking an injection after I eat, but if your 2 hour numbers are good than this wouldn't work for you. Endo switched me to Humulin Regular because it's slower acting & lasts longer. I've got Apidra for correcting highs.

The literature says it doesn't have to be refigerated, but my endo said it lasts longer kept at constant cool temp so I keep all insulin refrigerated. The pharm companies would prefer we buy more:) It's nice that Levemir doesn't sting, too.

Hope it works for you! Keep me posted.

Hey Debbie,

Levemir lasts 7-8 weeks. Another plus over Lantus. I keep mine refrigerated after opening. If I travel, I keep in cool in a Frio wallet. Have you started it yet?
