I see you were just diagnosed last year type 1. How old are you (you don't have to answer)? Anyway you're clearly not a child which is what I'm getting at. I'm 35 and was just diagnosed type 1 in June and I'm seeing more adults here diagnosed type 1 than I might have expected. I think one factor is a lot of us that not very long ago would have automatically been lumped in with type 2s because of our age are now correctly being diagnosed type 1. Some older doctors living in the stone age still do this. This ain't no picnic and I don't love injecting insulin every day but I sure as hell wouldn't want to be misdiagnosed and put on pills that would do nothing but completely burn out whatever's left of my pancreatic function. So you say you are on the pump AND shots? Get in touch with me at your leisure I'd like to pick your brain and maybe vice versa

Thank you Bernard, I am looking forward to my experience here. I am just in the process of getting my pump. I've not started on it yet. The doc and I discussed it yesterday so now I'm going through the paperwork. My insurance should cover it so I hope there are no snags. I'm going to get the Animas 2020. I thought about the Minimed Paradigm but decided on the Animas. Do you pump? If so which one do you use?

A Lil Mishap

Well I had a little mishap with my insulin. I was suffering with high bg in the evenings so my doctor felt that splitting my dose of lantus into two shots daily may help. Well then I began having serious lows in the afternoon and early evenings. Then my doctor said that I may be having my lantus lasting longer than the twelve hour interval and be seeing a overlap in working insulin causing the lows. So we returned to one shot at night. Older When Diagnosed

Type I diabetes was previously referred to as "Juvenile diabetes". Even with the change in the identification many still view Type I as being something you get when you are a child or a very young adult. Why Do We Exist?

My first reaction is to say I don't know. However, I know in my mind that we all exist for a reason and with a purpose in life. Jokingly I've said that I was born with a big mouth and that my purpose in life was to suffer adversity so I could use my big mouth to tell the world about it. . I don't see...

I don't see...how family members of some people who become ill can ignore the pain their loved one is going through in their lives. Time and time again I've read from people who are not getting the support they need from those closest to them. The person isn't too needy and they aren't demanding anything that they wouldn't graciously give if the situation was reversed.
