All About Me!

Hi Ya'll! As you can see, my name is Dee Dee and I am from the South. My accent is so thick even the locals have a hard time understanding me!

I am married to an almost perfect human being. He is everything I could ever hope for and more. We won't discuss how many times it took me to finally get it right, but BOY! did I ever get it right.

I brought one beautiful daughter to this marriage and so did he. My daughter is 17 now and is going to graduate in May. Her name is Alex. My step-daughter is equally as beautiful and is 15. Her name is Tabitha. We are very proud of our girls.

I am an Adm. Asst. (glorified secretary) at the local Tech College here. I LOVE my job! I work in the General Studies Dept. and see almost all the students that come through the college's doors. It's a very rewarding job.

I love the mountains (TN) but I love the beach even more. I have been to the Bahamas, but still believe that Panama City Beach FL truly does have the world's most beautiful beaches!!

My two favorite sports are NASCAR and SEC Football, namely the Bulldogs! I am a "rabid" fan!! My fav Nascar driver is Carl Edwards...go #99!!

My favorite season is Fall. I love the colors of the trees and the crisp, refreshing air after a hot and muggy summer. It's like there's a promise of new life in the fall...

I am hoping to make new friends out here and maybe get some new ideas on handling this dreadful thing called diabetes.

UPDATE

It's Spring 2009 now. I have a new diabetes doctor and educator. We are tweaking this pump till it squeaks!! My morning sugars are finally under 200!!! Yahhh me! This morning my sugar was 80!!! I am still having problems after dinner. The spikes are unreal! My educator has me dual wave bolusing for EVERY supper now, not just the ones high in fat. Hopefully we will see results soon.

I love working in the yard this time of year. I will be doing some planting in the garden this weekend. Hopefully this will produce new summer flower pics!

I hope everyone has a Blessed Easter! Stay away from those chocolate bunnies and peeps...or at least BOLUS!!!

well, better late than never, right? I just logged on to TD and saw your email. Sorry, I'm not on as much as I first was, but need to get back in the swing of things. The holidays and all, and i'm now on Facebook, so that's where I spend a lot of my time. I saw you're on myspace, I'll click on the link and add you there. Thanks for the message. Good job on marrying the almost perfect hubby, you go girl!!! :)

Glad you found us. Let me know if I can be of any assistance. As you have already discovered, there are any number of people here who can really be of help. Just ask and they'll come running.

Hi Dee Dee, Thanks for the kind words....Everybody has been so nice. I still have a bit of denial...Call me a closet diabetic...keeping it close to the vest at work and around friends. Don't know why . Just finally opened the meter box.....but with new friends I'll get there.

Dee Dee, I log on whenever I can (usually late at night after my husband is done with the computer). I'm a native Floridian myself (born and raised) and yet never have a tan for more than 2 days at a time..... I've been to Columbus once (to visit a friend in Army training) and the way I came in to GA we had to go through the Base. I'm sure there is a whole lot more to your home town, that's all I knew about it....:o) Welcome again to TuD.....this is a LARGE community too! :o)

Hello Dee Dee :) Thank you for the very warm welcome. I am very excited to be a part of this . I have felt so alone in all of this, and it feels so good to have people like me to talk to now:) It is a very rough thing for me right now to have this diagnosis , I have already felt so much support on here , and am so thankful for it. But anyways , welcome to you also , and I am glad to be a part of your group. Have a goodnight :) Stephanie Atkins
