Glad you are here. I still use insulin shown in your avatar as in pork. I live in Canada and have had type 1 for 51 years last summer. I feel fine and diabetes has not been a problem for me for some time. I am also bipolar too since 1963…"

When I have a low I always get manic and then do really dumb things. If I get high with a cold or illness I get depressed.
So yes, diabetes affects mental illness plus the other way around. I have ultradian bipolar since 1963 and type 1 since 1959 and by now I have it figured out so that I always have some grasp about what is going on. It takes practice for sure. It's a very convoluted thing. Don't be afraid to experiment with meds and be sure to start a moods diary to help keep track of it. This is what I have to do.
