See if you can find ROLE MODELS in your area that walk the walk and talk the talk, these positive people will help you find the ones who are serious about living well with diabetes. Knowledge from the outside prevents disease killing organs one by one in the inside. AMIGO

Great idea to try to reach that age group, I am a 92 computer rookie, clinically dead, in 1977,with a BG of 880 and with my second chance, have been a ROLE MODEL to at least 40.000, and asa LION CLUB member since 1972,use their network of 45.000 i 205 countries to mentor to those areas with high diabetes but low in information.Check out my friend MR DIABETES, ANDY MANDELL of www.defeatdiabetes.org andhe will give you great advice. For your info INSULIN was discovered by BANTING AND BEST, JULY 30 1921. Also start up aDIABETIC BUDDY group? It will have a diabetic call a diabetic, EVERYDAY, it serve 2 purposes, it could save a life and le them know SOMEONE CARES.If you come to TORONTO,let me know and arrangement could be made to see the LAB where INSULIN was discovered.Things to remember when talking to your group is, 1 Wear a MEDIC-ALERT identification bracelet, it SPEAK for you in case of emergency. 2 Listen to your body, it tells you when to eat, what to eat, snack, EXERCISE, rest, sleep.3.Have a glass of water before each meal. I am a senior that is going to WEAR OUT not RUST OUT.May you have the best diabetes support group in your area. Give ANDY a call. AMIGO clarence.haynes@sympatico.ca
