Hello amiga,
Happy belated birthday, first of all.

Second, the folks of the Behavioral Diabetes Institute sent me this information about a Luncheon Honoring Women with Type One Diabetes, taking place close to San Diego, Oct. 10. Thought I'd pass it along, in case you are interested.

Oh man - I feel the same way about glucose tablets - its a shame because they work so well but they are SO GROSS. Seriously, its like eating flavored chalk! Yoga is great for people with diabetes because it helps increase blood flow and circulation (which us folks with the 'betes have a harder time with). I do try to do a class every few months, but the hard thing for me is my patience! Its tough for me to hold the poses and concentrate for an hour - I have always been in to martial arts as my favorite workout of choice, so yoga is tough for me. But yes, to answer your question, its very good for people with diabetes - I just need to work on my attention span.

Uuughh - I hear you on the workout thing - its really tricky. For lows during working out, I often use GU. Its an energy gel, and I have found that they work quickly and are easy to get down in a hurry. Most of those gels are super-nasty tasting, but GU in the chocolate flavor is not bad actually. The bottom line with working out is to just try something and then test again and see where you end up. (like pretty much everything with diabetes!) I wish I had a set formula to give you, but its just tough because everyone is different. I blogged about a book that really helped me out - its called the Diabetic Athlete's handbook, and there's tons of tips in there from a variety of athletes. Again, no set formula but plenty of helpful hints. Here's the post on my blog about the book: http://www.irunoninsulin.com/?p=86 hope that helps - keep it up!
