"It costs more but I prefer pumping. It has eliminated approx 3 lows a month due to my Lantus dose not metabolizing evenly. I cover slower digesting meals with extended boluses and I offset activity with temp basals. That said, you can do very well…"
"Thanks Dave, reading your comments I feel better about it. It does suck but it makes sense, things evolve quickly for Dexcom as a startup. Reading a transcript of Dexcom's recent investor report, it appears they will not be working to upgrade…"
"Good point Terry. It could be a number of factors on both sides. From my simple layman perspective, all that is needed is a brief FDA vetting of the process whereby Ping and Tslim pumps demonstrate successful downloads of the new algorithm. I…"
"I agree and this is where the FDA should change its tune. If a pump is already approved with the prior G4 algorithm, then it should be allowed to upgrade to the new one. My assumption is the CGM interface on the pump would be unchanged and there is…"
It's very frustrating to say the least. Of course everyone is very helpful, I just got off the phone with a Omnipod rep, she's going to contact BCBS*** (ha! I love that) and see what she can do. Don't have a lot of hope. I was told by the DME people it's considered "disposable" but so are insulin pens and they're covered (I think!!) It's because they don't make enough money on the pods. The thing that infuriates me is that they don't cover CGM's!!!!!!!! What the h###ll! If ANYTHING should be covered it should be that. Now that I'm prepared to fight, we'll see how well I fight with "city hall"
Hey! Thanks for the comment on my blog. My sugars have been really out of wack, and my mom isnt too happy about it xD But the shots are just like a feeling of relief. But i'm totally looking forward to an omnipod. :D
Hi and thankyou for your reply. The only problem is that I have been needing to test my nighttime basal and I can't have any active insulin in my body.I believe I already did try a combo bolus and didn't get good results.I'm just going to have to play with it I guess.
