Don replied to Nell's discussion 'Nathan at MGH misinforms on PBS'
"Surely Dr. Nathan knows better but is perhaps not so quick on his feet representing diabetes in a public forum. He could have said, "Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune condition that can strike at any age." Factually true. If he had wanted…"

Don commented on Valerie Spain's blog post 'Too Good for a CGM'
"To me, a t1 diagnosis instantly qualifies for CGM. I would find a sympathetic endo which shouldn't be too hard. Both of the endos I have used did and would not hesitate to pursue Dexcom for me. The endo really needs to support you because they…"

"That is not correct. The upcoming G5 will still use the same G4 sensor design but the new transmitter will have new algorithms which will help it be more accurate and should cause less ??? readings."

Don replied to Diabetes News and Interest's discussion 'Abbott FreeStyle® Libre Approved for Sale - Sensor Based Glucose Meter'
"Great point. This allows the bodyware to be cheaper and smaller. And being entirely disposable can open the door to coverage under pharmacy vs DME."

Don replied to Diabetes News and Interest's discussion 'Abbott FreeStyle® Libre Approved for Sale - Sensor Based Glucose Meter'
"vs Dexcom, it appears more financially feasible to use on part-time basis with no ongoing replacement transmitter cost. After buying the reader device, sensors can be purchased in small amounts at no penalty to degrading transmitter battery life.…"

Don replied to Diabetes News and Interest's discussion 'Abbott FreeStyle® Libre Approved for Sale - Sensor Based Glucose Meter'
"Abbott needs to re-commit to the regulatory hurdles in the US and mass produce their sensors. We just might end up with a cheaper alternative to Dexcom."

karri replied to Don's discussion 'Dexcom 2nd qutr earnings call' in the group Dexcom Users
"Vibe was submitted for FDA approval last year. So most likely it has G4 radio-link (as in Europe) not bluetooth (as required by G5). And remember; "Gen 5 from a sensor perspective will be a Gen 4 PLATINUM sensor built on the same manufacturing…"

Hey Don,
It's very frustrating to say the least. Of course everyone is very helpful, I just got off the phone with a Omnipod rep, she's going to contact BCBShit (ha! I love that) and see what she can do. Don't have a lot of hope. I was told by the DME people it's considered "disposable" but so are insulin pens and they're covered (I think!!) It's because they don't make enough money on the pods. The thing that infuriates me is that they don't cover CGM's!!!!!!!! What the h###ll! If ANYTHING should be covered it should be that. Now that I'm prepared to fight, we'll see how well I fight with "city hall"

Hi and thankyou for your reply. The only problem is that I have been needing to test my nighttime basal and I can't have any active insulin in my body.I believe I already did try a combo bolus and didn't get good results.I'm just going to have to play with it I guess.
