Doretta Reily replied to Josh's discussion 'Anyone switching Bayer Contour Next?' in the group Minimed Paradigm Insulin Pump Users
"Duane...What is UHC's reason for not wanting to cover the Contour Next strips? I've just switched over to the Contour Next USB, but haven't picked up the strips from the pharmacy. I had used the Accu-Chek Compact Plus for quite a few…"

"I've used an Accu-Chek Compact Plus meter for the past few years. It's a great meter, since it's all-in-one. But I just learned that the test strips cost has increased roughly $45 in a single month. At first, I assumed the price…"

Doretta Reily replied to Stuart's discussion 'Glucagon Obsession, how come???' in the group Hypoglycemic Experiences
"Yes, it *is* a huge needle. But family members have substituted a regular insulin syringe, once the glucagon is mixed. And it works just as well. It's much easier for them, and also for me. I would assume that the multi-step process of mixing…"

Doretta, your various comments on the CGM has been very helpful to me as I learn how to best use it without getting too frustrated. I got it in May and some days I love it, but it seems that I hate it more days. This past week has been amazing. Near perfect accuracy!! I think my thighs get better readings and I am getting better at calibrating. I also have been frustrated with how many times I am checking my blood. I used to check 4-5 times a day and now I am checking around 15 times...Which is okay in itself, but for a lot of times I felt like I was doing all of the CGMs work. Anyways, thank you for advice to everyone!! :)

I got an e-mail from Susan Meeke this evening requesting my phone number and I e-mailed her back, so I guess I'm just waiting on the call to get everything started. This very well may be an answer to my prayers.

Welcome to the site! Glad you found us. I see you are an Exercise Coach for Fit4D. And a fitness trainer. That's the one area of my diabetic care that I totally slack on. I'm just so bad at it. :) I hope you enjoy our site and pass it on to others!
